Deep space nine is my favourite because the characters (main and secondary) were fantastic. also the dominion, maquis and bajoran/cardassian arcs are really great to see unfold.
I started with TOS when I was 11 in 74 and it still is my favorite. However, TNG is bitting at its heels and is a very close second. I love the movies just as much as those two series.
I like that you phrased this as "favorite," not "best." That should keep things more civil--and honest. I chose TOS, simply because that's the Trek I grew up on and it's still my touchstone where Trek is concerned, but that's just a personal preference, not a value judgment.
There was a time near the end of season two of TNG where I thought it might overtake TOS as my favorite. Then when season three started, there was a decided shift in the tone of the series.
DS9 by a nose for me, just beating TNG followed by Voyager & Enterprise, TOS for me is just too dated for me to enjoy properly any more. I realise that's blasphemy in these parts...
I watched a LOT of TNG in the 90´s and also really like ENT. The TOS movies are a mixed bag for me, TMP and TWOK are still great movies. But it´s an easy choice to vote for TOS - I grew up with it and still thoroughly enjoy it.
Earlier this year I decided to watch star trek as sort of a cultural obligation. I enjoyed ToS and TNG. But DS9 really made me a fan. It made me care about the universe. The irony was that going into DS9, I assumed that because I had never heard of it, it must have been 'the bad one'.
Great to hear, Mimi! I'm a fan of all of them, but grew up on TNG and the TOS films. I watched DS9 last year and fell in love with Trek all over again. It's now without a doubt my favorite, and that's not something I say lightly. I'm making my way through Voyager now, which I watched off and on when it was first on, but never the whole way through. It's the last of the series that I haven't seen in its entirety. We'll see if I change my mind on my favorite...
All though I haven't gotten through it's entirety, DS9 is shipping up to be my "favourite". I didn't mean anything against it, it was just I had been under the impression the fan favourite was TNG...
