Hey at least she only murdered one person. ENT has Phlox wipe out an entire species. DS9 has Odo wipe out an entire planet to prove his love to Kira.

The Kitchenrat served horse every Thursday Night.

    (No one breaks Neelix's heart.)

Neelix was dumped by a draught animal?

He's seen Vertigo one too many times.

Neelix plays out his fantasy of winning Kes back, using a horse with a little blond mushroom wig, and then tragedy as she dies in his arms, whinnying that he is the one that she has always loved the most, whereafter Voyagers Morale Officer minces his true love for weekly hamburger Thursday lunchtime feast infused with special hedgehog sauce.

(Elements from the Godfather are also strangely pornographic to this odd little man.)

I'm going to have fun here.

Personally, even though it was already discussed, I always felt Tuvix was the sort of 'moral dilemma' that frequently entered Star Trek episodes. But that's just me.

Yeah, like the trolley problem. But instead of being way too simplistic and perfect for real world issues, it was way too out there.
"Two of your friends have been sybiogenically merged into one being. You have the cure, but the being doesn't want you to perform the procedure. Do you do it? Chose carefully, this answer determines whether you are moral or not"
"Umm, can I just run a train into some conveniently placed people and call it a day?"

I liked the episode too, I just feel it would have been a better sci-fi weirdness and character episode than the moral angle.

    The trolley problem?

See this forum makes me think and google. I had forgotten about Vertigo

And if we're going to fight over identity let's bring Solomon into the picture. Quite ready to commit murder AND gets called wise. We should have had Janeway demanding Tuvok back, Kes demanding Neelix back and 7 of 9 efficiently slicing Tuvix in half with a phaser.

7: There. I believe that is two pounds of the flesh you require.

Janeway: You're mixing your literary metaphors 7, have the Doctor run a diagnostic on your cortical implant.

Roll end credits and no one ever mentions Neelix or Tuvok again.

Oh, that's why everyone kept saying Vertigo. I though it was just a psych thing.

You know what would have been hilarious?

If the Doctor fluffed it, and wound up with a Teelix and a Nuvok after alll that moral fretting... And honestly if they were even only 90 percent what they used to be bofore this catastrophe, they would have shut the hell up before Janeway takes to them with a hatchet again until it's even cocked up worse.

Okay that would have been totally hilarious.

DILUTED. Neelix would have gotten some extra smarts but Tuvok.. he could never go home again.

Tuvok would have gotten a better sex drive.

Even having sex twice a decade has to be better than what god lumped the Vulcanians with.

I think it's debatable how much of that they did to themselves. They may have had an evolutionary leftover of super libido madness coming upon them every 7 years to ensure they sought out a mate and kept the species going, swimming up stream etc.. But the suppression of all libido outside of that may well be a product of Surak's teachings. They suppress being pissy because they are afraid to get too angry, they suppress libido because they are afraid to get too sex obsessed. Pon farr is probably exacerbated by there being no outlet in the non-pon farr years.

Maybe that's why Vulcans meditate all the time... it's actually a form of tantra where they harness their sexual energies for maximum pleasure every seven years. ;)

    It's not evolution.

(I had this argument about marvel comic mutants just the other day.)

    It's Eugenics.

In DS9 they were saying that there are genetic differences between Romulans and Vulcans, which can't happen whole sale across the board from just 2000 years since the age of enlightenment if they breed 10 to a hundred times slower then humans...

    "sigh"

    Psychic surgery?

The Vulcans will themselves into an emotionless sexless state.

That's not even Eugenics, I'd go so far as to asusme that it's religion or politics.

But it most certainly wasn't a logical reaction to consistent environmental forces.

So pon farr is only a response to the repression. If you took a Vulcan male baby and raised it with zero Vulcan influence it would not go through pon farr?
