No mistake. You were the one who kept pushing the idea of a TV series set in the alternate timeline, and you've indicated that your favorite ship is the Constitution-class of that universe.

    I'm with Belz...--that thing's hideous.

Let me get this straight. I like the new Trek, and I like the new design... so I'm obsessed with new Trek ? Wow. That is probably the conclusion reached with the smallest amount of evidence I've ever seen in my life.

Conversely, let's have another theory, shall we ? I wager that you, in fact, do NOT like new Trek, and applying black-and-white thinking, since I disagree with you, concluded that I must love it with all my heart. All I have to do is check a little something on the forum...

    <checks>

Yep. Not a single post of yours in the Trek XI+ forum. So you really do hate new Trek.

Now, instead of reaching silly conclusions about each other based on no evidence whatsoever, would you rather we actually discuss what the other says ?

I don't think you have a clue what an obsession is. I don't like new Trek any more than I like old Trek. That I prefer the new 1701 design to the older one, which was my favourite for over 20 years, is irrelevant to the question. I also never "kept pushing" for a TV series in the new timeline. I simply asked why some people wanted to go back to the old one. So your reasoning is flawed. Horribly flawed.

We're going to have to disagree on that. I think it looks like exactly what it is: a fan design that tries way too much to be cool.

I don't hate it, but I'd prefer not to watch it.

And you kept asking... and asking... and asking.

What's wrong with a fan design? The Titan was a fan design if I remember correctly.

I don't think it "tries way too much to be cool" no more than any other design, be it fan- or professionally-made. It just may not be to your fancy (which is fine), but that's about it.
That's true. While fan designs can vary in quality, there are definitely some that I would put up against those actually used onscreen.

No argument here. There are some talented fans out there.

I already explained why I asked. I only needed to repeat myself because CE and yourself didn't get the question. There's no obsession involved, aside from you bringing this up again.

Nothing wrong with fan designs. Where did I say there was something wrong with fan designs ? I simply don't like this one.

And you'll notice I'm not going to ask you why a second time.

I personally really like the Solaris-class NX-1701-A. I've liked it since I saw it in Starlog back in 1989. If the movies had given us that, I'd have had no complaints. :)

As for the Titan, I consider it fugly. It's too busy.

Beauty, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder. :)

I'll drink to that. I consider the Defiant-class beautiful.

You didn't ask a first time.

And another thing: I didn't ask a second time. One poster answered my question. Then CE argued with me and I tried to make my question clearer. Clarifying your question is not asking it again.

Ah, well there's the source of the misunderstanding then. You think that, if person B misunderstands a question from person A, person A musn't make any attempt to clear the misunderstanding lest he repeats his question. That's mistaken, of course, but at least now I have a good idea what went wrong, there.

I don't have a problem with someone asking a second time to clear up a misunderstanding. But that's not what happened. You kept asking even after C.E. Evans answered your question. And you're denying it even though you know what you did.

You may not like it--and even I would go for another design--but compared to others I've seen, it's not that bad.
