No... seriously? You could hear the "old" in her voice even before Voyager finished. I hope they clean her up a bit.

So... do we want to hear the inflectionless deadpan of TOS or the TNG-era version?

I really hope they don't do the clackity computer voice from TOS. Better to just leave it like TNG on. Otherwise this is cool news. :techman:

Does it REALLY matter to you personally what the intonations of an AI-driven computer access and retrieval system sound like? The information the audible system provides is still the same. IT could sound like a bad-arse biker babe with 10 years of smoking habit backing her up. The information provided is still the same. Seriously man... :bolian:

Including Majel gets my approval as well. Well played, sirs.

The question was asked in jest. No way in hell would they use the throwback voice. The beast I'm posting with has a more believable voice than the TOS computer.

Maybe I should have made it more obvious... posted some silly emoticon or something...

Anyway, the TNG-era voice was retconned in during Enterprise... so now the computer has always had that voice.

I want the clickity-clack typewriter sound!

    "Working!" :D

I think Barrett-Rodenberry will be a good addition (although I don't think her inclusion was 'required')...

...however, I wonder why we haven't heard from the people with negative comments like:
"Abrams is simply buying Majel's approval by putting her in the film."
    or
"Abrams is sorely mistaken if thinks he can win over the real fans by simply adding Majel as a 'token'."

You know which people I mean. I'm talking about the same people who (before this announcement) would have said:
"Abrams MUST use Majel as the computer's voice. By not having Majel, Abrams is proving to us that he doesn't care about the real fans."

I imagine they probably will have her do the voice the way she did in the 24th century shows. After all, that's how she did it when she did the Defiant computer's voice in Enterprise's MU two parter.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Majel said exactly one word in "In A Mirror, Darkly Part II":

    < Working >.

That could easily have been a sample lifted directly from TOS. Anyhow, she can say the lines however she likes. There's already prescident for the Duotronic System's female voice sounding very different, see "Tomorrow Is Yesterday" and my quip further up the page.

Realistically speaking, she won't be around forever...I'd just as soon they did something different from here on out. Something actually synthesized...or use the Stephen Hawking voicebox. ;)

Its for this reason I am happy she is in the film. Your right she wont be here forever so its nice to see her doing her famous computer voice again while she still can!
