Link to story I remember her clearly from The Bob Newhart Show, because her line delivery was so well-timed. Funny, funny lady
That's a shame. She was hilarious. Her character on Bob Newhart was great. And of course, Mrs. Krabapple (Flanders). Classic work. I wonder how the show will deal with it? RIP to a funny woman.
RIP I never knew (or forgot) she was on the Bob Newhart Show, it's been so long since I've seen it. Definitely great voice-over work as Mrs. Krabapple (Mrs. Crabtree?).
Damn, terrible loss. I never watched The Bob Newhart Show, but I loved her as Edna on The Simpsons back when I still watched the show. Rest in peace, Marcia.
Re: RIP - Marcia Wallace (Edna Krabapple) I'll miss both Edna and the voice that Marcia gave her. She was a wonderful friend and foil to Bart Simpson as wall as an irreplaceable part of the one of the greatest ensembles in television sitcom history. RIP Marcia Wallace.
With Mrs. Krabapple's retirement perhaps the thing to do would be let Bart and Lisa move up the grade. Yes. As iconic as her voice was on Simpsons for a lot of us who grew up in the 1970s she will always be Carol on the Bob Newhart show
Aw hell. Some of my earliest memories of TV were watching her as Carol on The Bob Newhart Show. She was hilarious and wonderfully original. She didn't have what you might call conventional TV looks, but who cared? She liked who she was and it was infectious. Now both of the brilliant and funny star actresses of "Bob Newhart" are gone. And Mrs. Krabapple? Who else could deliver so much in a single "Ha!" Thanks for all the laughs, Marcia Wallace.
Wow. I just heard about this and a little sad to hear. I remember her on a couple of episodes of Full House too. She played one of the PTA parents that had a thing for Joey.
Oh man... they can't do what they did with Lionel Hutz and Troy McClure, though. She married Ned Flanders! Ned has a second wife that's died... They'll have to have her die suddenly. They can't have her run off with someone, not after having built this up as a good marriage...
I gave up on The Simpsons years ago (and never saw Newhart), but that's completely beside the point - what awful news. RIP.
Or they could do a Neris where's mentioned but never seen though they are going to have to get a new teacher for Bart.
I think that scenario is harder to do because the Simpsons and the Flanders are next-door neighbors. Niles didn't live with his brother or in the same apartment complex.
