Any good semi-recent horror films from the past 10 years or so? Preferably something that got pretty good reviews like

    Trick r Treat
    28 Days Later
    The Descent
    Dawn of the Dead

I'm having trouble finding decent stuff to watch.

The Descent is my favorite from the past 10 years. Another one that I liked was The Mist. It only has a Meta Score of 58, but I thought it was quite good.

Maybe it's just cause I'm getting older but horror movies don't thrill me anymore. I liked The Ring, The Grudge, 28 Days Later, The Descent, The Others, High Tension, Dawn of the Dead remake...

I can't even remember the last good horror movie from the past or two though!

I said horror movies, not movies filled with random freaking out and zippers opening and closing. ;)

I think you'll struggle to find a horror film since that's enjoyed as much critical acclaim.

30 Days of Night was pretty good, I thought. Very atmospheric and a not so happy ending. I forget, were the reviews favorable?

Hmm. I didn't think of this as horror, but I agree that it's a remarkable film.

Was pretty impressed with Let the Right One In. I LOVED The Orphanage. Probably in my top 20 films.

I liked that movie a lot as well.

I really liked Wicked Little Things.

I don't pay much attention to what is or isn't critically acclaimed. I only know what I like. I find good horror movies extremely tough to find these days, so I mostly just try to have as much fun with them as I can.

That being said, I enjoyed Teeth and Shrooms. Most of my friends didn't like either.

I thought 30 Days of Night was very so-so. I was looking forward to that one too.

The last decade didn't have any good horror movies, imo.

Drag Me to Hell was good... though it was more comedy than horror :D
