Yeah the difference is not noticeable for typical television HD broadcast but there's definitely a difference when the source materia is full 1080p like blu-ray.

I still haven't gotten past Naked Now, but those new Blu-ray documentaries, man... I could watch those forever. Fascinating stuff.

Agreed. It's amazing how much new footage and info they uncovered after all these years.

The nice thing about the HD resolution is also, that you now can make some nice photos from the stills, that can stand on its own:

I really like the Worf/Geordi one, Salinga! Makes me eager for when the middle seasons start coming out!

Speaking of the blu-rays, what are the commentaries like? Do they completely blank out the episode audio, or does it fade in and out between comments?

A few months ago I was still watching DVD's on a 20" standard resolution TV. We splashed out nearly £800 on our Blu-ray/HD/3D set-up, solely for the purpose of this Blu-ray release! Don't think we'd have bothered otherwise. Star Trek has always made the technological decisions for me. :borg:

Commercial content deleted by Mutai. It is against board rules to try to sell stuff. Read the rules!

    Many thanks,
    James

Thanks to all the people who offered advice and counsel on my problem with Blu-Ray and the HD TV lacking HDMI. I found an HDMI to RGB converter on Amazon for $60 and it has done the trick. I can't testify that what I'm getting is full 1080, but the image quality is noticible superior to what I was getting using the single jack component connection. The Lady Sho-Rin and I watched Farpoint last night and were both entertained by the show and delighted by the look of it.

It's like finding out you won the lottery, isn't it?

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet but I thought the included postcard with the replacement discs was a nice touch.
