Starscape BBS's zeta server crashed the other night, taking the whole board with it. I sent a mass email trying to get the remaining member list that wasn't damaged to let people know that everyone was migrating over to the backup board, which is now the primary board. The URL is still www.starscapebbs.com, and typing that in will get you there, but you will have to re-register. I made that process as painless as possible, and hope you will come join us there! John

The board must be down because everytime I type that into my address feature, it says: Board doesn't exist. Wonder what's wrong?

Posted: + StarscapeBBS.Com + z13.invisionfree.com/Starscape_BBS I received private messages and emails from several moderators and members informing me that Starscape BBS was giving an error. This one: 404: Board Does Not Exist. Make sure you did not mis-type the URL. I immediately became concerned because that error means the board is either missing or gone. Server errors do not give that kind of error code, and if you are here, this means the software itself is gone. I will be honest with you: In all likelihood, the board is probably gone. This is the kind of error you see when the board has been deleted or removed from the server. There can be many reasons for this, from copyright issues to just board removal. Since we're hosted on a free host, there doesn't have to be a reason. I will keep you informed. UPDATE (3:53 PM EST): Starscape BBS is gone. The site was removed at 7:50 AM EST this morning. Reasons: None cited. I'm sorry kids, I don't have any backup for this one. Starscape BBS is gone. John
Unfortunately, Starscape is gone. We've moved so many times the membership has dwindled down to very few, and it's not our fault, it's just the unpredictability of our hosts. That being said, Starscape was a great board, and I am glad to have made her those nearly 5 years ago. I'd recommend terranbbs as an alternative home to the starscape crew. It's a smaller board with a welcoming core population.

In all honesty, I'm tired. I loved that board and still love the community it fostered, but after 5 years and several major crashes with complete database losses in all of them, I just don't have the power to put it all back together again. I believe we've run our course, and I will miss it, but we can move on. J, I was very sorry to get your message about this. I'm still hoping that the database will somehow be found and Starscape saved. It's a great community and I know how much it means to you. Perhaps this just a mistake or misunderstanding. Thank you very much. We'd very much like to have Starscape members join us at ReNext, though not at the expense of Starscape. If anybody wants to join, please send me a PM here at TrekBBS first, so I can be on the lookout for you and you don't get purged in the daily Bot attack. Sorry about that. You couldn't find your account because of the Apocalypse last year; everything got lost and we had to start from scratch. That won't happen again as we are taking precautions. As for regging, we're now getting around a hundred Bots a day and it's become nearly impossible to spot legitimate applicants unless I know ahead of time. Please register again; I'll be watching for you and I'll activate your account as soon as I spot you.
