Not with Baptists. I used to help prepare the communion trays, and we used a big bottle of Welch's Unsweetened Grape Juice in individual half-shot glasses.

I believe the word for kes for the fist couple years was "Untainted".

When she came back in fury, the lass certainly had some taint.

Wisdom in Trek is 99% common sense that every viewer has already thought of before it was uttered by the character.

A lot of people think preachers are crooks. Dad was only getting $125 a week (1970 dollars), bought his own car, and the church provided a house. He worked 7 day a week, visiting new members, the sick, etc., 3 services on Sunday, 1 on Wednesday which was basically a business meeting with the deacons. He disliked television evangelists and considered them crooks. It was his only career from 1927-1970, except when he enlisted for WW2.

My first job in 1970 paid $103.50 for 40 hours/week, and I had no experience, but it was a union job.

The real money was in church supplies-- pulpits, altars, baptistries, chairs/pews, hymnals, communion supplies.

I guess the church supplies business has taken a hit now that no one gives a shit about officially sanctioned furniture.

And the tv evangelists are everywhere.

Dad did try local radio during the 30s I think. Apparently he got nervous on the air, and mispronounced Texas City as Sexas Titty.

Surely that would have helped numbers?

After that, he pre-taped his sermons for broadcast.

    Mine was.
He drove a Cadillac he didn't buy with his own money.
Never went to see anybody that belonged to the church that was ill, unless they still put money in collection basket weekly and my cousin is his illegitimate son.
