3D Display

    The lamps-as-projectors thing is a fun (if unintended) tie-in to the gooseneck displays of early TOS. You know, these?

    Of course, those were an homage of sorts to the speaking tubes of more primitive ships, and the new positioning in "Where No Man" reinforces that image; the ST:ID-based commercial just takes the homage one step further. Essentially, we're seeing some sort of a primitive technology that is on its way out in TOS already (only Kirk retains his "tube" in the second pilot) but hasn't disappeared yet in the alternate timeline.

    The line from "The Visitor" is

    I have a question. Which would be easier on the eyes - working on a three dimensional display in a fully lit, white room or in a less lit, darker room? I would think the latter.
