So as it turns out The little 9 year old girl singing "Ode to China" as the Chinese flag was being carried in by the other children wasn't singing at all, it was actually a 7 year old who wasnt "cute enough" to represent her nation" her picture has been on the news and by any western standard she is adorable. Also some of the fireworks at the end of the ceremony were CGI which leads me to wonder why they appeared at all on free media like NBC and the BBC
Apparently, the Chinese control and distribute all the video, so BBC and NBC could only broadcast what they were given in that instance. The faked segment was the "footsteps" leading up to the Bird's Nest - they say that atmospheric conditions and the potential risks to a helicopter pilot in following the fireworks were a problem - however, they also say that they worked for a year on that sequence, so it's obvious this wasn't a last-minute decision. Too bad - I was kind of hoping for a chance to see the footsteps on a special Google Earth video sequence - that would've been really cool!
Apparently some of the medal winners have peeled back the gold wrapping to reveal delicious chocolate inside.
The truth is there are no Olympics, it's all just a massive ruse generated by the man to sell cola. Think about it, how many cola ads do you see during the olympics?
...and it's only an unfolded chocolate covered fortune cookie, no wait it's not even a real cookie, it's just rice paper
Are people really surprised that a display of pageantry has been over-produced? And guess what, there are seat fillers at the Oscars too...
Now I'm wondering if that cute little boy (Lin Hao) marching with Yao Ming is really who they said he was.
Did the fireworks look close to what was on the broadcast in real life? If so, then I have no problem with that. The lip-synching is not that troubling, either. China wanted a certain look and vocal performance, and that's what they got. The Opening Ceremonies were fabulous, and the truly jaw-dropping moments were not faked. In any case, it's more important that there be complete honesty in the competitions than in the stage show.
Oh it was the footstep sequence? NBC was showing pics of other fireworks during that segment then nevermind, those were obviously CGI, didnt think anything of it at the time, I thought it was the end show. Hell any Trek fan could have told you those were CGI
I thought the girl might be lip-synching. The vocals sounded too perfect and didn't really fit with her mouth movements.
