You do know that has all pretty much been debunked?

Agreed. He's mostly retired at this point, and in his 80s. Directing a major tentpole film is not an easy job.

I bet Nicholas Meyer would do it, but his directing career is more or less over at this point (he's been solely a screenwriter for over a decade).

Even with the admiration and appreciation for those names and their respective work I have, I find the idea of fresh blood more and more appealing now.

I wonder if Orci ends up directing it? That way we have just one person we can focus all our hate on!

Now that I think about it, I really like the idea of a one-stop shop for hate.

Re: Nimoy or Meyer directing -

"Let's get guy's who haven't filmed a major blockbuster in almost 30 years!"

That has "Bad Idea" written all over it...

Indeed. Which is why it almost certainly won't happen.

    Very unlikely.

Alex Kurtzman did make his (feature) directorial debut in 2012, but this would be quite a bit bigger than that small film, and it's also unclear how involved Kurtzman will be, since he isn't writing.

It's common enough for screenwriters to get into directing, but, as with Kurtzman, they usually start out directing films with modest budgets and/or television to gain experience before getting a big budget franchise film.

Source? It's not that I doubt it, but it would be better for either of you to provide an authoritative source.

Exactly like J.J. Abrams, who had directed a lot of television, including some of the most cinematic big budget pilots in television history, before being tapped to direct a big budget franchise movie. Note that I said "they usually start out directing films with modest budgets and/or television."

Nick Meyer is extremely unlikely, but he's a family friend of JJ Abrams, so it's not totally out of the realm of possibility.

William Shatner is available. He is willing to help with the script too.
