I don't think a trend upwards is impossible, so far After Earth is 17% fresh. The scifi fans will go see STID.

It hasn't been updated much, but the actual total right now would be around $275 million.

Thanks for that link--it's a good read, aside from all those chicken scratches! :p

But good news, because that'll be 4 times the 2009 take, I think.

All right then, the curious general public moviegoer after realizing Hangover and After Earth are turds, and the Trek film is fresh.

Last time (with ST09) we had a competition going in here as to who saw it most if I remember :)

STiD will continue to draw good business, but $21 million for this weekend, maybe $22 million at a push, is the upper range of what it'll make.

"After Earth" has been getting absolutely terrible reviews. It might open okay, but it's going to collapse hard after the first weekend.

I think will limp to 250m with a final total of 450m WW, a disappointment but better than what we thought after the bad first weekend.

Well as a ScFi fan and a long time trek fan, I still haven't seen it. Too much other stuff at the end of the kids school year. We'll try to see it this weekend.

I keep hearing good word of mouth from non-trek folks in person and facebook. I think this weekend end might bring a bump

Then I beat you last time around (saw ST09 seven, yes, seven times at the theater).

This one I've seen three times but the fourth is coming up this weekend with another non-Trekkie friend and her husband who want to "drag" me to it ;)

My friend Michelle and I contributed two $13 tickets opening night ... though actually paid less than that through a Fandango gift card deal :)

I'm hoping to go again this weekend, after I get over this cold.

Box office mojo is updating the OS total figure but has not updated the individual figures. The $29.1m from UK is part of the $102m figure.

According to ERC STiD made $2.7 million on Wednesday. Star Trek made $3.1 million on the Wednesday following its second weekend.
