Not forgetting that he played JFK in a tv play about the Cuban missile crisis in the 1970s (opposite that other actor who always plays the President, Martin Sheen, who was RFK this time).

Must be in the family - Devane's father was chauffeur to Franklin Delano Roosevelt when FDR was Governor of New York!

It's very handy they set it in London, this means he can spend the missing 12 hours stuck on the Tube.

I do like Stephen Fry as a TV presenter, comedian and human being (I posted my reply above with a few glasses of wine in me, hence its vehemence). But I can't take him seriously as an actor and he takes me right out of anything dramatic (most recently the Hobbit 2). I can think of any number of British actors I'd love to see opposite Sutherland or Devane in this role; he's just not one of them.

I thought he was great on Bones. I think they are going for a Churchill feeling with him. I think he will do a fine job and is probably too good for 24. Just like he was too good on Bones.

I'm definitely not happy with what they're doing with Chloe, but I'll give it a shot.

And Stephen Fry? As the PM? Are you kidding me? :guffaw:

Oh well. I suppose it's slightly more realistic to see Fry doing a serious dramatic role than, say, Bruce Campbell doing one. Which, strangely enough, has also happened (Homicide: Life on the Street).

You know, I actually like what they're doing with Chloe. The fallout over the events in season 8 must have been gruesome. For years, knowing that the government was hunting Jack, even after all the good he had done, how the sacrifices he had made in the name of protecting innocents didn't mean anything to people in power. She's not a violent person, she wouldn't take up arms in the traditional sense, she'd use her brain to do damage. While I find it quite questionable in the real world, in the fictional world of 24, it makes logical sense.

But if the main bad guy this season is also some Assange-like hacker, does this mean that Chloe is in league with him? I'd like that even less.

Too lazy to link but has anyone seen Chloe's Lizabeth Salander look for this series?

It doesn't mean that shes in league with him, she could be Jack's way in to getting at the main villain or identifying him.

Yay! I miss 24. All my favourite shows have ended now; The Wire, Dexter, Breaking Bad. It seems to take an eternity for a season of Mad Men, Game of Thrones, or True Blood to get made, but they're only 12 episodes per season. Sigh.

I've heard good things about True Detective, which seems like it might appeal to you, although I haven't watched it (yet). And Better Call Saul is airing sometime this year, I believe.

Mob City also seems like a good investment so far.
