I'm not sure Leia is the right character for that. I wouldn't mind seeing a romance between two young Jedi, or between a Jedi and a dark side user.

There's fanfic for that. If one wants to make money off Star Wars, using the characters that people know and love is a good starting point.

I agree, I'm just not sure that Leia really fits for the tone of a romcom. What was she in A New Hope, 20? She didn't seem like she had much time for romance...and even if she did I don't think a romance in the rebellion would be able to be a romcom. It would have to be more of a romantic drama. Unless you set it when she's 16/17, but that depends on how long she's been a part of the rebellion.

A romantic drama makes more sense to me, and it could end with her joining the rebellion. The only other option is to set it post-Jedi which either means splitting her and Han up or killing Han off.

"In a world where love seems impossible...
A girl may find love in the most unlikely place...
A princess and an enemy soldier...
Will they kiss... or will they kill each other?"

Respectfully, who cares about that kind of things except a handful of Star Wars fans?

Not exactly on topic, but George Lucas filed some paperwork on his $2 billion in Disney stock, sparking probably erroneous headlines that he was selling it all.

So when would you set a Leia romcom, post-ROTJ?

I would set it in some unspecified, who-the-fuck-cares, out of continuity time.

I'd go with Artoo and Threepio for merchandising myself.

I'd check out a Han Solo or Yoda movie, but really don't care much about Boba fett.

I really like Jabba the Hutt and his species, but I don't think they're capable of carrying a two-hour big-budget movie all by themselves. Jabba and his fellow slugs are much more enjoyable in limited doses....if they were on the screen every few minutes or so it'd get tiresome fast.

    Unless it's this guy:

Ziro's like a mix of Sydney Greenstreet, the sheriff from Cool Hand Luke and Truman Capote.

They could do a Leia movie with a Mulan type storyline. It's Disney, how can they resist doing a princess movie?

I don't have a problem with solo movies as long as they don't pull a Kingdom Hearts and just keep pumping out solo films between episodes VIII and IX while dragging their heels on IX.

Milking it dry? Do you know how many hours of live action Star Trek there is compared to Star Wars? It's gonna take a lot of movies to "milk it dry".

It'll still take 20 years to reach the point that Star Trek did. And it's still better than having George write/direct any more of them.

It will end up half between Transformers in the end.
