And if we had got Benicio Del Toro as originally intended, we would have had a villain with a Puerto Rican 'Spanish' accent!!

French has never been referred to as a dead language in Trek at all. Data referred to it as an "archaic" language but that is completely different from being dead.

Yeah I know but an actor that speaks in a particular accent is still part of him been in character and therefore him acting.

Thing is that Cumberbatch's accent in the film is very British (in fact very English). so there is a good chance that the villain is from London.

Anyway I am just happy a few people on this board understand me.

Is it very British? I don't think so. Not as much as the French Man's.

Between this and the Alice Eve scream thread, I'm beginning to form a suspicion...

His character is French, but Patrick Stewart used his normal, British accent while playing him. Same with Professor X.

If they wanted French, should have cast Geneviève Bujold. :)

    Oh wait...

that what? I am a die hard star wars fan and star trek hater in disguise who has come on this board to destroy Trek?

I am just surprised that I am the only one who took notice of other things that did not contain action and CGI.
