If we get enough signatures, we could be able convince the popular children's channel Cartoon Network into playing The Animated Series every day, once a day, from like 3:30 to 4:00...
Why? The Complete Series DVD is around $15 (US) and it is also available on Netflix streaming as well. I'd have to check but I think it is also streaming on Star Trek dot com. It just wouldn't survive very long. I'd rather see them acquire the rights to something like Yamato 2199 instead.
Petitions to try to get networks and cable channels to do things don't work. Online petitions even less so. And not enough people care about TAS anyway to have a large number of signatures. Besides, as BillJ points out, TAS is available dirt cheap on DVD and also available for streaming through Netflix. Given that, why bother with Cartoon Network?
Exactly. I'm a huge fan of TAS, but as such I've had the boxed DVD set since it came out and can watch anytime I want commercial free.
It would never be on Cartoon Network, CN doesn't even air their shows from the '90s any more. They're all on CN's "old cartoons" sister network Boomerang. So if anything it would be aired there.
CN probably isn't a good bet anymore. I think the most viable options at the moment is on The Hub which has shown a willingness to air old adventure style cartoons or Syfy at an 11PM/Midnight slot where it experiments from time to time in showing such things like Star Blazers or anime(yeah, I know SB is anime....).
I would imagine that the costs of the episodes will keep The Animated Series from ever being on OTA or cable again.
