(Have gone slightly crazy here as I thought I had posted this yesterday and can't find it anywhere!):

I have now reached Vice Admiral (yay!) and have maximum crafting points. In some of the PvE missions, some folks seem to have some pretty awesome powerful front weapons - very rapid fire, "pulsed" type - what the heck are they and where do you get them from? Must admit that I don't really get what all the differences between all the different types of weapons are, eg tetryon, polaron etc are. My combat strategy is to sit there, point blank and fire till they (or I) explode. Here's a screencap - any advice please, would be appreciated!

Are my consoles/weapons/shields worth a darn?

Gratz on making VA and Master Crafter.

Well, hate to beeak it to you, but your whole ship is nor really meant to be the biggest 'splosion generator.

The Starcruiser is best at being a support/heal ship.

Those rapid pulse weapons are cannons, some of them (dual, heavy duals and quad cannons) are exclusiv to escorts on Fed side with the exception of the AGT Galaxy class dreadnaught.

Tell you what, if you are online now, I give you a crash course in game...

Ah, that explains it, regatdi.g wrong ship choice. When I'm back on the PC, I'll PM you with my details and hopefully you can add me onto the BBS fleet, which I've been meaning to do for ages now.

k... I have to go offline now.

Will add you later , got your toon name from the picture, just need the player handle...

In the meantime you can skim through some of the existing threads here, there are quite a few build suggestions.

Also note, that you are playing a science captain. That in a star cruiser so screams support and not damage! ;)

Did you get the free Odyssey class during the 2 year event? It has the similar stats as the star cruiser but slightly more versatility.

You could easily use the Odyssey as a hybrid support/tank. In that case, I'd recommend using primarily turrets of tetryon (reduce shields) or polaron (reduce energy). Using turrets allows you to keep more power in your shields.

Also I recommend that you have a seperate dedicated ship for PvP (if you participate in that).

    My user name should be:
drusila@daedalus5 (if the format is toon name @ user name).

I've now changed back to the Odysee (I used google to find comparisons between that and the star cruiser and star cruiser kept winning back then!).

    Let me modify that:

Turrets will allow you to keep more power for shields and aux. Plus they compensate for the Odyssey's slow turning rate.
