She is obviously a DS9 hater. 20 years of fans saying DS9 was better than VOY had to piss her off. :p

Ahh, she's just being playful...her criteria for what constitutes a "real captain" is pretty dicey. Apparently your show has to go for seven years and you have to have been lost in space. (Which Picard wasn't. Someone should let her know. ;) )

7 years of listening to Chakotay babble will do that to anyone.

So, can anyone tell me where to gt these alternate versions of VOY and TNG where they are lost in space?

My TNG set only has, like one episode, where Picard is thrown out of known Space by Q, and brought right back, and then of course, there's Q taking Picard to the Continuum for Trials.

My VOY set, while they are in unknown Space, decades from home, they know exactly where home is, and how far away it is from the very beginning

Are these alternate "Lost in Space" versions superior to the versions televised in California?

I got to the questions based on the subject of the thread, it sounded like the interviewer didn't know what she was talking about either. Not going to criticize Kate Mulgrew for being egged on. Besides, I like Kate Mulgrew and think she looks great with the Eye Patch. ;)

At least Avery Brooks got out of Hollywood before he stooped to something like this...

No. The interviewer wasn't "egging her on," just asking about a comment Ms. Mulgrew already made previously. You can't egg someone on to make a comment they've already made.

In addition to everything else people have brought up, including the fact that Sisko was a captain, what does the length of the series (or commanding location) have to do with being a "real" captain?? I'm sure Ms. Mulgrew is a very intelligent person, but my moron-meter hit a little a spike at the above.

Oh come on folks. She's obviously joking! The exchange is preceded and followed by laughter. It's hardly the most serious of interviews to begin with.

Oh no, an actor on my sci-fi tv series doesn't have the obsessive detail of knowledge about it that I do! My childhood!

Not everybody involved in Star Trek can be a superfan, guys.

Hardly obsessive, detailed, superfan material. It's pretty basic shit.

That said, it's pretty clear that she's not being entirely serious.

No, she wasn't joking, at least not about that. I copied the exchange exactly as it was reported, without a bunch of laughter after every response. She seemed to know each captain's story well enough to be able to determine which ones don't count and the two that do (to her).

I don't see anyone getting upset because it's not a big deal; she's just an actress who's entitled to having an inaccurate opinion. There's no need to get upset about people pointing that out, though. What I hope she was joking about was being married 11 times. That's her character, I'm guessing...

Kate Mulgrew is often a troll. She trolls the audience, makes up shit as it comes to her and laughs along with it. She's always ON and always a comedian. At some point she came up with a quirk about how she and Stewart were the only ones to spend 7 years on a ship as captains and she's enjoyed throwing it out there in mock pride, something she uses as the other side of the coin to self deprecation all the time.

If you watch her talks you read this stuff in her voice  and the style is quite obvious.
