Well that's very interesting! I wouldn't have expected anyone picturing the Majestic a 31st century Enterprise-J era ship.

Fascinating how various readers picture things differently when you deliberately exclude such details. :)

So what do you guys think? Would you be interested in reading a prequel featuring the ill-fated crew of the Majestic?

Or will the knowledge of their eventual fate rob any story of its 'soul'?

I'd be interested but yeah, their eventual fate would hang over them like a cloud. But sometimes, that can add something to the story.

I'd welcome reading a prequel involving Sigrid and the Majestic crew because I enjoyed the original tale, but as the Count[b/] says their inescapable demise in the far future swings both ways.

On the one hand it lends a certain grim fascination and inevitability to the story, but it also adds a pointlessness to whatever adventure you chose to depict since ultimately no one is getting out alive.

It might be interesting to see some prefiguring. As always, your choice - you like the characters, then of course give them back story, etc.

One thing I would love to see is Sigrid and Simon beforehand. I get the feeling they weren't pals. Then it's even more hellish. Not only is she stuck, but she's stuck with someone she thinks is an ass. What did Sartre say? Hell is other people.

    "Sigrid and Simon..."

When you say their names together they sound like two characters on a children's program. Like Rosie and Jim!

I love stories set in the far, far future. It's the perfect setting for a science fiction horror story.

    Very well done. Chilling, even.
