I am sure there has been a thread like this in the past but since there is not one present at the moment i just want to see what peoples favorite sci fi tv shows are. My top sci fi shows are Stargate sg1 ( great humor, cast, and villians really hit its stride after season one and remained good until season 6) Babylon 5 (great characters, good humor, great sound track, great story, and fairly special effects, stayed good after season one up until season 5) Twilight zone( well written stories, first great sci fi tv shows) Star trek (classic sci fi tv show, got me into sci fi, positive outlook on future, great characters interaction dr who (creative, has comedy and newer seasons have good effects) Battlestar galactica(sorry didnt like it but maybe someone else will have something positve to say about it) Lastly havent watched x files or farscape but will after finishing sg1
Forgot to add the tv show fire fly to my list but for me just like battlestar galactica for some reason i didnt like it. Also add your own top sci fi tv lists below and please tell me if i missed any good sci fi tv shows.
1. Babylon 5 2. LOST (are we considering that sci-fi...?) 3. Farscape 4. Doctor Who 5. Angel (well, that's fantasy...)
Doctor Who Space: 1999 Blakes 7 Sapphire and Steel UFO Timeslip Quatermass Space Patrol Thunderbirds Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons Clangers Babylon 5 Star Trek (1960s) Those are probably my absolute favourites.
Classic Doctor Who is my life's obsession, as well as the novels, audios and expanded media. Then we have The Twilight Zone, Star Trek TOS/TNG/DS9, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Babylon 5, The X-Files, Dollhouse (BETTER than Firefly!) and Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
I'm not going to include Doctor Who as it's simply impossible to compare it to any other show in a fair way. Suffice to say, I do love it, though. My favorite sci-fi show would have to be LOST. Just a beautiful show.
Objectively speaking, I'd say Neon Genesis Evangelion is the best sci-fi TV show I've ever seen. Classic Doctor Who isn't nearly as groundbreaking or intellectual, but nothing really comes close to it in my life, let alone in fiction, for my affections.
