Lord British, the alter ego of the video game developer Richard Garriott, well known for the Ultima series, is finally returning to his RPG roots. No, it's not Ultima X, but it is Ultima-ish. Avatar is in the title. That's something.

Does it include an apology for Ultima 9?

That should be one of the stretch goals. If the kickstarter reaches $2 million we get a YouTube video of Garriot apologizing for everything that game did wrong. Fortunately YouTube has scrapped its 15 minute limit on videos.

Wait, this guy spent $40 million for a week on the ISS and he needs to do a Kickstarter to raise a measly $1million for this game?

It's not as if Garriott had been away for a long time. Tabula Rasa was released in 2007.
