Exactly, none of us here will ever know if Star Trek lasts "forever". Some of us will know if it last another 90, but not much farther than that.
Interesting post. I'm a great fan of the 1980 Flash Gordon movie, but to be quite honest I had no knowledge that it had ever been brought back since. It appears the 2007 series only lasted one season. I guess the conclusion is that the worst thing that could happen is that Star Trek would be brought back as a low-budget revival every 10 years or so. (Acknowledging that Flash Gordan and Buck Rodgers were never high-budget to begin with.)
You can't say anything I haven't heard before. And unless you're familiar with all my posts over the past several years then you don't really know how I think or what I'm thinking or what I'm about. You're assuming a great deal from very little evidence. As far as knowing something about Trek over the years we may not even be in the same league so don't presume to lecture me.
Speak for yourself. I intend to be cryogenically frozen upon my death, launched in space and awaken on the Enterprise-D!
I have read every single thing you have written over the past several years. My Master's thesis in college was based on it and I got a commendation for citing original thinking. I kid. In fact, one of the things I hate about blogging or posting, etc. is that, even with smilies, there's no real emotional nuance. *sigh* Anyway, I was merely pointing out that ST is no "dumber" in the new movie than it was in some episodes of TOS. So there. Blah-blah. Then bonk on the head!
^^ I agree that emotional nuance doesn't convey well on the internet. That said I think it was very short-sighted of the film's creators to aim for a lower denominator rather than a higher one.
