Actually I like quite a few different things on my breakfast toast depending on my mood: peanut butter (preferably crunchy), jam, honey, caramel spread, cretons (Quebecois pork like spread), Cheez-Wiz, cream cheese... But my absolute favourite is Mapo, which is something rather like a maple flavoured spread. Comes in a brownish container with a beaver knowing on a tree. Anyone else?
I have butter, of course, and also cinnamon sugar sometimes. Occasionally grape jelly. Poached eggs. Occasionally I will wrap up scrambled eggs in a piece of toast like a little half sandwich or taco.
Two things. One, Mersey Valley cheese (very sharp and crumbly) with corn relish. Two, two boiled eggs and half a chopped tomato, mixed in a cup with salt and a little butter, and spread on three slices of toast. Don't know where I got it from, love it. Might have it tomorrow. Either of those with black, sweet coffee: breakfast of the gods.
Sweet (unsalted) butter on a thick slice of pumpernickel. Has to be done in a toaster-oven where the bread lies flat, so you can butter it first.
Unpasteurised unfiltered crystallised honey on pancake with organic aromatic ghee seasoned with myrtle . Not something I eat too often, unfortunately. That's my all time favourite though.
