This is the look they were considering for Janeway, Season 8. This would have been her best do ever, and I am unanimous in that:
She could have worn this wig at the welcome home gala episode we never got to see! Or to Venice. They are big on masquerading there. :P
I have absolutely no idea how Jonathan Frakes let himself go. Patrick Stewart still looks great. Frakes looks like William Shatner now and he's half the age of them BOTH No wonder he's given up stage and screen. I remember his humble roots on the dukes of hazzard. Too much livin the high life i guess!
v From Voyager, I think Beltran looks the most haggard so far, but even he doesn't look too bad. The others aren't aging too badly. Our Doctor is still looking pretty handsome and doesn't have a big gut yet haha.

They actually shot for a couple days with Mulgrew in a simple shoulder length hair cut but decided it didn't give her enough gravitas and reshot all those scene with the bun. I think Frakes looks fine, but I think most everyone looks fine. The only people who don't look good to me as they age are the ones that have trashed themselves with drugs or starved themselves into gauntness. Frakes is coming to Melbourne in Feb next year, YAY!!! This thread kinda proves the producers of voyager were right to have panic about Janeway´s hair. It apparantly IS a big deal. However: I liked it short!
I prefer the short hairstyle over the bun, too. Janeway's too kick-ass a character for such a scholarly look. While we're on the subject of hair, though, how the heck did Kes go from a pixie cut to those long Lady Godiva locks overnight?
That was due to Jennifer's skin being sensitive to the Ocampa ear appliance, so they just hid them with long hair.
Yeah, I knew that she was allergic to the prosthetics. I just found it really jarring when her hair grew nearly a foot between episodes.
I liked Kes. She was sweet. Boring, but sweet. And the Doc probably wouldn't have grown much as an individual without her encouragement. But I didn't like her long hair, either. She looked kind of like a cocker spaniel.
I actually liked the change in her hair style, it felt like "she" was growing, not just her hair. I really wish they had allowed her to age appropriate to the Ocampan life span, marry, give birth and (sob sniff honk) even die of old age just before/just as Voyager returned to the Alpha quadrant. In 2000 I did a trilogy fanfic predicting how Voy should end... (posted the 1st part here last year in our "let's make a Voy movie" thread) that basically did just that (the aging, not the dying). The 1st part (Out of the Mouths of Babes) faded out on the "long haired" blonde that took command of the Aerowing as it ran into the sun. Part 2 told us what happened to her after she left Voyager the FIRST time, explained away the "character assasination" of season 5... and gave us one more final J/K parting. sniff, sniff... From Eyes Open (part 2 of 3) (Kes looks at Janeway with sadness before looking quickly away) Kes: Today is the day I know you have been working for... longing for... for nearly 8 years.
