It's being developed by Robert Ocri and Alex Kutzman in the same style as Transformers Prime.

To keep it in the new continuity and avoid stepping on the movies' toes, this series will take place during Kirk's three years at the Academy. This will make the series more relatable to the younger audience CBS wants to reach with this all-CGI series.

    Here's a link.

I've always wanted to do that. Never went through with it during my first tenure here. :p

But, on a more serious note: I remember them discussing the possibility of a new animated Star Trek. I think this would be a good premise to pursue.

People should take to announcing real things on April 1st, that way someone is actually fooled by the jokes. But seeing as how it's never anything legit and can be seen through from a mile away, might as well make it cheeky. This? meh. I! was not! entertained!

I think all April Fools threads should be closed at the end of the 1st. To leave them open and unmarked is cruel.

I do think this would be the way to go. I'm surprised that they haven't done so or at least explored it. When the Burton Batman movies were being made, we got the Dini-Timm TAS. More recently, we've had The Batman airing during the Nolanverse's tenure.

And, as you pointed out, there's the Transformers example, from the same makers.

Orci has said that he has 'explored' it to some extent, not sure how far it went with CBS.

Funny, I was thinking a new Trek series could be done in CGI, a la Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

^To hell with an April Fools joke. I think this is the next logical step in the franchise.

This was an April Fools joke but I'm sure Kurtzman & Orci mentioned the possibility of actually doing something.
