They tell me this: Threads: 131,438 Posts: 4,999,195 Members: 23,563 Currently online: 213 Newest member: Batesshunan So what is the deal there?
Now that it is about to happen I'd like to ask the experts about their opinions, fears or hopes on what this number of posts entails. Is the software geared to handle the new total number of posts or are planes going to fall out of the skies? are nuclear power plants going to 'china-syndrome' on us (more than they usually do)? will our taxes ever be correctly calculated again? will the dead rise and eat our brains?
I just want to make sure we know which one it is. I'm out though, have to go to sleep and the posting is sooooo slow right now. I fully expect there to be a winner when next I log on though!
The current post count on my screen: 4,999,319 At this rate - and if my tally is indeed the correct one - it won't be long. Just the other day there were still about 10,000 left to go and now we're down to a few hundred or so.
Earlier in the thread we discovered that the discrepancy in total posts is due to there being two counters: one on the bottom of the index page, and one on the top right of every page. I think we decided to go with the number on the top right since that's what most people were referencing. It is the higher number, at 4,999,335 at the moment.
Here's another one to get us a little closer to the milestone. The Trek Quadropalm. It's a powerful meme. Use it wisely.
Does anyone here have any statistics on how many posts are 'normally' (whatever that means) made every 24 hours here? -or a link to a place where you might find that sort of data...
I'm planning to open a bottle of wine and settle down with crisps, popcorn and choclate to wait for the board apocalypse. Haven't had this much fun since the finale of Enterprise!
I wasn't sure if there was ever a shot of Archer making a facepalm, so thanks for the Trip picture. It's actually more amusing coming from him because you'd sort of expect him to be the more likely of the two to roll his eyes or facepalm over something.
This is definitely more fun than waiting for the hour to strike midnight on a new year's eve! I mean, there are 24 of those around the globe and only one 5000000'th post on the Trek-BBS This thread is almost as much fun as the "Who gets the last post on the old board"-thread was back before the (most recent) change of software
