    Scenario:

An away team beams down to a planet and is immediately set upon by the legendary Aliens from "Alien." Away team members are being killed left and right, and phaser fire is blasting wildly.

Enter Security Officer Stone, the Horta member of the away team, who rumbles in to defend his comrades. He's armored against powerful acids and he's got some mean acid of his own...

Who wins the resulting Alien vs. Horta fight?

The Alien has phyisical weapons upon the acidic blood (fangs, talons, sharp tail), but the Horta is smarter. On a one on one brawl, I will probably bet on the Alien. If it's a full battle, Hortas all the way.

Horta. Especially if, as a member of the away team, he is fitted with a custom phaser turret on his, er, back. Dorsal side. Whatever.

I gotta give it to the horta. They move through solid rock as if it were air, that's a hell of a thing if ya think about it. :vulcan:

Thing is, Aliens usually fight in swarms and they're smart. I'd say if numbers are on their side, one guy, no matter how strong, is going down.

Hortas aren't quite "guys'. They're lumps of silicon.;)

Depends on a number of factors that we don't know, like the effect of xenomorph blood on silicon dioxide, effects of Horta acid on xenomorph exoskeletons, comparative strengths of Horta and xenomorph.

    Probably a draw really.

I think this is one of the more awesome threads in the history of Sci-Fi.

I'm going with the Hortas, just because I want the good guys to win.

Thanks, lol...it just occurred to me out of the blue that a Horta going up against an Alien would be one hell of an awesome pay-per-view fight.

Hortas have no face to hug, are almost impervious even to phasers (I keep picturing the Alien breaking its teeth on a Horta's hide), and are resistant to acid by their very nature. And it's debatable that being silicon-based, a Horta might not even be noticed by an alien (who seem to ignore droids).
