Howdy all, I modeled the Ambassador class starship a couple of years ago, but I decided to challenge myself and see how quickly I could re-do it with some of the new techniques I've learned. As with my Intrepid class, this will be a model optimized for games, so it won't hold up to extreme close-ups. I like to be as accurate as I can, but I try not to sweat the details if they start to eat up a lot of time. Anyways, I don't have as many early renders as I would normally share, since I've been moving so fast on this one. In fact, this should just need a little more detailing before I move on to texturing. But I thought I'd share it anyways. View 1 View 2 View 3 Thanks in advance for watching!
Hello, making some progress on textures. These are being applied to the final low-poly model (approx 9000 polys) http://bit.ly/18c17yG http://bit.ly/17t7sJT
Posted up some orthos and angles from the in-software viewport shader... Next I'll work on a few beauty shots! (Just gonna link the album cuz I added a bunch)
To be honest, I´m not a fan of that particular class of Starship at all. That being said, I think you did a great job modelling it. Very well done indeed
Thanks! Yeah, I think it took some time for the design to grow on me. I appreciate how it seems to slot in nicely between the Excelsior and Galaxy glasses, but I have to admit it lacks the iconic-ness of either of those designs. I particularly like the shape of the engineering hull, streamlined but muscular like a dolphin or a whale.
Wow. I, too, am not a particular fan of this design but you did a GREAT job modeling her and some of the angles you chose to render are far superior than we got on the TV. Thank you for sharing your work!
