Vengeance looks better as a model, I must say.

Also, the new Direction with the Klingons? Unexpected in design, which I kind of consider a plus. I can't help but think this is what happens when Klingons spend a long time trying to decipher Borg tech. I can imagine Sojourner puking on my shoes right now, but I kind of dug the general idea if not the actual specific design.

Cool, thanks for the pics, I hadn't seen those yet. :) Will definitely help me fill in the details. I hope to work on this some, tonight. :)

Big ass ship designed to be operated by a small amount of crew, at least according to the film.

    SPOILER NOTE

Ridiculous when you think about it. An enormous ship serves no real purpose as defined in the film.

    Hey guys,

Been working on this still... obviously I missed my deadline. :)

Once I boolean cut all of my shapes until they fit like I wanted, I went ahead and cleaned up everything. I'm trying to figure out the bridge, though... I went for now with the shape of it on the QMX model, but I'm not sure.

Does anyone have any better images of what the bridge looks like? It almost seems like it's window is also below the rim of the saucer, too, which means they wouldn't be able to see anything!

    More later...

That when at warp sounds like a Republic Gunship from Star Wars

Are you confusing me with someone else? I like the nuKlingon designs. Certainly never said anything bad about them.

I think you're getting it pretty close. I just got the Hot Wheels model and (besides missing the deflector [the best part of the ship, IMO]) it seems pretty accurate. One thing I'd caution is that the Vengeance is flaaaaaat.

    Hey guys...

Finally a few updates! Since the last pics, I totally rebuilt almost all of the saucer, to make the mesh neater. I had cut everything out with booleans to get the shapes right, but that makes a mess out of everything.

The main parts of the saucer are done, so I'll move on to the nacelles next, I think. I also tweaked the secondary hull too, so it matches what we see in the movie better. :)

A question about the Vengence, thinking back about the movie. When the Vengence shows up, are there doors that narrow the deflector array? Maybe sliding away to reveal the armament?

Yes. The defector is exposed while at warp, and there are doors that close over it when it isn't. (It doesn't appear to close completely, but it's definitely narrower on standby.)
