So wait, Paramount Pictures owns Galaxy Quest now? How did that happen? I'm asking this because I just rented the DVD and it has the Paramount Logo on the label. I have also noticed that licensed merchandise also carries the Paramount copyright. I was under the impression that GQ was a Dreamworks picture. Would someone care to explain this to me?

I think Dreamworks was sold to Paramount Pictures in 2008 or something.

That Amazon listing of Warner Bros as the studio behind the Blu-ray release seems to be in error. Other sites list Paramount as the Blu-ray distributor.

Warner Bros. has a three-year deal with Paramount to distribute their titles.

^That might depend on the market, somes a film with have a different distributer in different countries. So WB might distribute a film in N. America whilst Paramount distributes is everywhere else.

Feels more canon than JJ Trek.

I thought JJ Trek WAS Galaxy Quest.

Hard to believe this movie is 14 years old now. I just rewatched it, and unlike a lot of scifi movies from back then, it looks like it could have been made yesterday.

Thank god they went with using models instead of CGI.

Model work and CGI both have their place. It's knowing when to use one or the other or a combination of both. To me the model work for the space battle in ROTJ, looks far superior to the CGI work for the battle at the start of ROTS.

By Grabthar's hammer, are you trying to make us all feel old(er) by mentioning how long it's been? ;)

    And ILM did it too.

Any time someone asks me what my favorite Trek movie is, I always say Galaxy Quest. Now Cinefex said that there were designs that looked too much like Enterprise but didn't show them--argh! Maybe now they can be shared!

The best scene is when the detached bridge-lifeboat hits the stage and products go flying.

    Now THAT'S a Convention!

What'd you do, do a search for Galaxy Quest and bump two old threads on the subject?

    ETA: Nevermind, three old threads.
