^Heh, I've eaten there, during Otakon this year, and last year, on my brothers request.

Oh, and Otakon is one of those great conventions I mentioned earlier which I take part in, along with Comicon, and Star Trek conventions.

    ^good luck! :bolian:

Injera is Ethiopian bread. It's like a huge, very thin but spongy pancake made of a sourish yeast dough. You tear off little bits and load them with meat, veggies or sauce. (In Ethiopia you eat with your right hand - there's no cutlery. The left hand is considered unclean as it's generally used for personal hygiene. Wise precaution, actually, and very hygienic. Prevents infections with intestinal bacteria.)

Often the food is served directly on a huge injera :)

Here's a pretty good sum up of Ethiopian etiquette, including table manners:

^ Thank you. I'm familiar with injeras, but had forgotten the word!

If anyone's going to Dukem, let me know. My brother lives literally two blocks away and the place is awesome.

I wonder which generation moved from Baltimore to New Orleans.

Oh, I didn't realize that. I suppose that one's cool too, but the DC one is better ;)

Going by their website, the DC restaurant looks much fancier, with higher prices to match. I'll stick to the Baltimore location, thank you.

So I take it your brother lives in DC, then? ;)

Have you been to the Helmand Tora? Afghan restaurant owned by Hamid Karzai's brother. But don't let that put you off, the food is fantastic.

Was there once, before the fire, and loved it. Haven't been back since. Thanks for reminding me about it. There are so many good restaurants in Baltimore!

    Hay, hon.

Fridays After 5 Prices Take a Dive. $12 bucks for 4.5 hours.

    Also:

    • Baltimore Beer Week is coming up.
    • Eat crabs on the roof of LP Steamers.
    • Go to Geppi's Entertainment Museum if you haven't been already.
    • Go duckpin bowling at the Patterson and then get some pizza and play skeeball across the street at Johnny Rad's.
    • Visit the Top of the World for a full 360 view of the city.
    • If you can get there, go see the newly renovated Senator Theatre up in Towson.
    • Take some local comics and a RoBohCop sticker home from Atomic Books in Hampden and some local music from the Soundgarden in Fells.
    • Pay 12 bucks for the day pass on the water taxi and use the discount coupons you get to eat all the crab cakes in Fells.
    • See some local small-bore theater. Single Carrot's current show is supposed to be great and they have a bunch of free dates this month for Free Fall Baltimore. Stillpointe Theatre Initiative is opening Little Shop at the Annex next week. All in Station North (Purple CCC).
    • See the Cone collection at the BMA and visit the Walters. Both always free.
    • If you're still here on the 26th, go to this and then to this.
    • See a David London magic show.
    • Take in a show at the Hippodrome. Next week they have We Will Rock You - the Queen musical.
    • If you like Indian, go to Akbar.
    • Scalp a ticket to the Ravens game tomorrow. You can also just wander the tailgates for a real Baltimore experience.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head for October.

EDIT: Ft. McHenry is likely closed due to the debacle in DC. Do the water taxi thing once it reopens.

^ Thank you for reminding me about Free Fall Baltimore!

I love the Cone Collection. Unfortunately, a significant part of it will be traveling for the next year. :weep:

And, yes, Fort McHenry is definitely closed.

Nice list Nevermore. I still have to do a few more things on it to complete it (and I was born and lived their for quite a bit). I should make a date to revisit the BMA, I haven't been their in awhile (Cone collection?). Alliance Comics on S. Light St. can be a little cheaper than Atomic Books at times and, if you like magic shows, Spencer over at Illusions Magic Bar & Lounge on S. Charles St. is an old friend of mine. He's worth checking out in my opinion.
