It would have made Kirk go insane and he would have plotted the destruction of Andor for 25 years?

Then they would go back in time and Spock would be the one who killed JFK.

    Kirk would impregnate Hitler's momma.

Yeah, it would be real wrath of God type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes...The dead rising from the grave! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Seriously though, way too open ended of a question.

The E-A enters a rift and what? Goes forward in time? Backwards? Needs to be just a bit more specific.

They go back in time and destroy the first Burger Chef restaurant, thus eliminating Hardee's from the timeline.

That would mean no "Thick Burgers", or Paris Hilton commercials. Just think of the impact to humanity and the over all shock to the timeline.

It would've gone over like a very badly written fanfic...

Maybe they go back in time to 1988 and Kirk kills Shatner before he can make Star Trek V? Then Kirk can play himself in Star Trek VI.

I'd really like you to take a moment and contemplate answering this question yourself, because it is so open ended anything could happen.

Then STV wouldn't have made any sense until Nemesis was released in 2002, and it still wouldn't have made any real sense.

The Enterprise-A was caught in a temporal causality loop for 20 years. That's why the ship went from brand new to ready for retirement in the space of one movie. The crew had to repeat Kirk sitting on the brig toilet over and over and over again for 20 years...
