Ray: Do you remmeber that time you tried to drill a hole through your head?"
Egon: "That would have worked if you hadn't stopped me."

Egon was my favorite of the four, but they were slo closely ranked an each a part of the team that they might as well be equal. Egon jsut edges it, which is saying a lot for how awesome that character is.

Ramis did so much for comedy. Since comedy is harder to pull of right than any drama, that says so much. His comedies were memorable and quotable and stand up to the test of time.

    He truly was a legend!

And 69 isn't even that old anymore. Real shame.

The moment where his Stripes character finally breaks down, snaps and starts pummeling Bill Murray for convincing him to join the Army will always be a classic scene.

Was shocked when this came up as breaking news on the TV. All the usual cliches went through my head. . "I didn't know he'd been ill". . ."Was he really 69?".

For me, seeing the name Harold Ramis just made me think of him in Ghostbusters. He never aged from the image in my mind. It's a real shame that he's left us. Some of his films as director were really good stuff.

    He was awesome.

Animal House, Caddyshack, Stripes, Ghostbusters...this guy was a comedy genius in whatever role he was playing in a production.

    RIP

It sounds very sad that Bill Murray burned most of his bridges with the old Ghostbusters gang.

He's expressed his feelings, via lawyer, about the loss. It *is* a shame the two has such a falling out but, really, like his "Groundhog Day" character Murray is kind of a prima donna jackass.

Very sad and torn-up to hear this news. I had no hope that a sequel would ever be made to Ghostbusters and even if it did it'd come around 20 years too late. Still, Egon was my favorite of the Ghostbusters team and who I identified with the most. Even as a kid when we built "robots" in grade-school while learning about basic electronics my "robot" was modeled after Egon (granted, the cartoon version of the character.)

Rest In Peace, Harold Ramis. You certainly were a talented man, and when you made a good movie you knocked it out of the park.

If you're a ghost now, go to Akroyd's house and re-enact that "ghost BJ" scene from the first movie. (Just the first part of it, you need not actually go all the way. ;)) It'll really freak him out!

I was a huge fan in my teenage years. Always hoped he could replay his Ghostbuster's character. He will be missed.

Same here :(. I was looking forward to a third film as well. We kind of got one with 2009's Ghostbusters game though. All of the original cast is involved.

I know him and love him from his role as Maurice 'Moe' Green from SCTV, and I've found him, and his characters, funny as hell. This has hit me like a hit to the solar plexus, and I will miss him. RIP, Harold.

Wow! I just found out about this, this sucks. Ghostbusters is by and far one of my favorites and is a great childhood memory, it's a classic for me. Groundhogs Day was also a hilarious movie, I was just talking about the movie a few weeks ago on the actual groundhog's day. This is a complete bummer. I just watched Monuments Men and Bill Murray did well, but Harold Ramis will be missed.

A Facebook friend put it well when he said Groundhog Day is as close to perfect as a movie can get. And as we all know, those kinds of movies are exceptionally few and far between to say the least.

So I guess that this means Egon's dead in-universe (comic books, novels, video games, any future TV show, fan fiction) too.
