Another book for the 2014 schedule:

Amazon lists a TNG Novel called Light Fantastic written by Jeffrey Lang for June 24th 2014.

I guess that is the Cold Equations follow up?

Fantastic news I hope this novel will also come out in paperback and not just be an e-book.

Next year's Treklit lineup is looking fantastic so far, I'm really impressed.

Anytime I ever see something with 'Fantastic' in the title I hope either Reed Richards or Doctor Doom are somehow involved.

Or, given the title in this instance, Rincewind the Wizard!

That's great! I recall writing to Jeff after "Nemesis" introduced the B-4 character, hopeful that we might get a sequel to "Immortal Coil" one day. And I had more correspondence with him a few years later, but he replied that since Marco's departure he didn't have an advocate at Pocket Books.

How cool to see him back!

UPDATE: Jeff just told me via his Facebook page:

It's great to see Lang back in general, not just specifically because of Data. I always liked his novels.

This is outstanding news! Lang is a great writer and the blurb for the book at Amazon sounds incredibly cool. My pre-order has been made.

Thanks to Defcon for the news. It made my night.

Glad to hear about this. I've loved all of the Jeffrey Lang books I've read so far, so this is very good news indeed.

Great, *another* book to add to the reading list that's already about 70 titles deep! lol

But seriously, this is great news! I've been hoping for another Lang novel for awhile now.

A bit of digging and one can also find the paperback listing, which comes with this little blurb:
    Squee!

Well, since Dave made Cold Equations a direct sequel to Immortal Coil, it seems fitting that Jeffrey Lang now gets to come back and continue the story himself.

Although I can't understand what they'd have against helping Moriarty gain a body. It's not like he was really as evil as the character he was based on. I guess I'll find out in June.

I'd have preferred a David Mack follow up (I loved Cold Equations, Immortal Coil less so), but great news nonetheless...

Only now do I fully realize, it will be about a year and a half after Cold Equations that we will get a follow up to Data and Lal. It doesn't feel that long.
