After knocking up a 1701-D corridor (http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=222235) I fancied a go at something original. Now I've been a fan of the work of Dan 'madkoifish' for a long time and am pretty blown away by his ship the USS Onimaru, which got me thinking, how would it look inside?

Below is what I've drawn up today, so isn't final at all. I wanted to sit somewhere between the Ent D and E in terms of design, I always thought the E was a bit too 'busy' on the detail in the corridors, but obviously it was built for the movie screen. Anyway, here's where I am so far, I may try some colour variations too.

Why is it so dark? It feels like I'm in one of the corridors in the Habitat ring on Deep Space NIne.

Ah, the fun differences between American and British slang. I read the first post, and what popped into my head was, "You knocked someone up in the corridor? Get a room, dude!"

Not a fan of the bluish scheme, but I love the original one... a perfect balance of the 1701-E and Galaxy-Class corridor looks.

Blue just seems like a go-to color for the Federation. And why not, after all, cool colors seems to describe the friendly nature of the Federation.

Why not use both? One color for science areas, another for engineering, another for living quarters, etc.

^No! That would allow hostile intruders know what part of the ship they are on

that's why starfleet ship corridors are a maze of twisty little passages, all alike. :bolian:

Fantastic! I like the blue more. Upping the lighting improved it also. Great stuff!

To be fair, the TMP Enterprise made an effort to show different decks having different color schemes, mostly be changing the upholstery on the wall panels along with the starkness of the lighting. No reason why other starships can't have this distinction as well...

This corridor design is great BTW! I love the handrails too - they always give someone something to hold onto when the ship inevitably rocks about.

This just makes me want to see this ship's bridge all the more. :)

I've always thought the different decks would maybe have different colored carpets, depending on what section your'e in (science/medical/engineering) etc. they've definitely need to be different somehow on a ship of that size just to make navigation easier.

Not sure I'm quite ready to design my own bridge from scratch yet ;)

thanks for all the kind words though!
