So let's play a game; think about what kind of work you do doing your current job or current course. What colour uniform would that job entail in the 24th century? I'm studying city planning so I guess I would be in sciences blue. My undergrad course was in Modern Languages so I think that would also be sciences blue, to go by Hoshi Sato. Uhura's job seemed more technical so I imagine that's why she was in services colours.
arty designery stuff, not sure that's uniform-worthy. so i'd probably be dressed in civilian guest-star dazzle pattern jumpsuit
I work in an aquarium, so I guess I'd be science officer blue. Funny... It looks like the majority of Trek fans are proving to be science nerds. Big surprise there.
In terms of being disabled and no job, I'd be wearing one of those tedious civilian jumpsuits. In terms of most of my past jobs, which involved computers, it would be blue. However, the Federation is all about doing what you want to do, and my passion was theatre. So maybe it's back to the tedious civilian jumpsuit. When do they let you come up for air?
A lot of jobs that are command red in Starfleet, such as pilot or intelligence, would be considered operations in a modern Navy. They're never quite clear where the boundary between red and gold lies.
You could always hire Garak to make you a nice civilian outfit. He does good work. I get to play fetch with a giant Pacific octopus. If it were up to me, I'd never leave.
Yeah but in a warehouse you get to do those forklift races around the aisles, so you're a driver, like Sulu or Paris.
My basic branch is Signal so I guess that would put me in Ops yellow. But now I work in the Acquisition Corps doing contracting so not really sure where that would fall, probably still Ops Yellow I would imagine.
For my current job, I think I'd be in TNG era yellow, since its a support position of the main operations goin' on. And in my previous jobs, it's still be yellow, since I used to do security work.
