SyFy's Haven has returned for its second season, premiering last night.

I enjoy this show a fair amount. Interesting characters, weird happenings, and so forth.

The episode last night picked up right where we left off: the Chief is dead (or is he?), the mystery of the tattoos deepens, and now we have two Audreys (or is it an Audrey and a Lucy? Or is it....???). The lines between the Troubled and the Faithful are clearer and set up for more direct conflict. The Rev is one creepy dude.

I hope they don't get too convoluted as some shows seem to be doing lately (to their ultimate detriment). Haven is not exactly Shakespeare, but it's no Harper's Island either.

Summer SyFy (man that's lame) is finally here. Added to Eureka and Warehouse 13, it's not a bad one at all.

    Discuss and Enjoy!

Well that's the thing: it may not be a second Audrey. If our Audrey is really Lucy, then is the "second" Audrey is really the first Audrey. Or is she? Got that so far?

I don't know where they are going. Is our Audrey really the ghost of Lucy? Some kind of reincarnation?

I just pray they have a plan, and that the plan is not stupid.

^^^ And don't forget -- there are two Howards, too. If "our" Audrey is really Lucy (and the "new" Audrey is the real Audrey and presumably her boss is the real Howard), then who is "our" Howard, really?

I watched a couple of episodes when this show first started and gave up on it. However, I watched the season finale and this episode to consider giving it a second chance.

I'm curious, do they explain why the populace don't go running away from Haven or do they just consider it slightly weirder than normal New England happenings?

We've seen him act independently from her, so I'm pretty sure he's not a delusion. Is he some kind of supernatural handler?

And what is his angle? Is he "good" or "bad"? We've seen that he is much more aware of what's going on than he lets her know.

Not explicitly, but it seems there are two camps in the town, neither one willing to give up. It became more clear I think in the premiere that there are The Troubled and The Faithful. And there's going to be a battle between the two.

I don't know how many people, if any, are in the middle...??

^^ I can see that now that you mention it. So you have like the Rev and his followers who will stick it out for faith. And you have people like the police chief's son and Eric Balfour's characters (sorry names escape me) who are looking for something. Makes a little sense I guess.

I think it's more like these troubled people want to be left in peace, but the religious folks see them as evil and needing to be cast out.

It seems like, for the most part, the phenomena only occur when the troubled are attacked or frightened. Some don't seem to have control (which is where Audrey/Lucy comes in).

Also, you have to read the newspapers in the introduction. This all seems to have something to do with witch burning.

I don't know about that, but if I were that guy, I'd start reading hardcore porn immediately.

This is Stephen King's New England. The region is crawling with weird towns. ;)

I thought it was good. The whole two Audreys put me in a strange place. I'm not too sure how they will get along.

I think the best part was the smuggler and the cop burying the Chief in an unmarked grave. Underneath it all there is a mutual respect between the two and it's that type of unspoken honor that is... rather swell if you think about it.

^^ It looks like the clown will be on next week.

The premiere was good. Hopefully, this year there will be a little more urgency to the arc. My main problem in the first year was that Audrey was a little too lackadaisical in following up on something that meant so much to her. The characters, the actors, the setting, the stories are otherwise all good.

It looks like Audrey II will be an ongoing character (and I really hope she gets the chance to say, "Sho looks like plant food to me"). The fact that she has her own Howard really complicates the mystery. And last year, our Howard was conspiring with the sheriff, so if our Audrey is the fake, he could have been part of that.

I think Duke's wife will be a good addition to the storyline as well. And I liked the burial scene-- the relationship between Nathan and Duke is great to watch.

The premiere did seem to move along at a (relatively) more brisk pace.

And you guys make a good point about Nathan and Duke. That scene was a nice touch.

    Episode 2 has aired.

I thought it was pretty good as far as the main story. A very nice gesture by Nathan at the end.

The mythology part is getting pretty muddled though. I really hope they don't over-complicate things. The book and "our" Agent Howard? He's on tape so we know he's real. Where is he? What is his deal?

And why is newspaper guy so scared of Lucy?

What was that little conversation between the brothers at the end -- I thought he said it wasn't actually Lucy but someone else? I didn't catch exactly what they said/meant.

I wonder if Our!Howard is someone in a string of someones who've been keeping an eye on Lucy/Audrey since she left Haven. Did they say Lucy had helped stop the Troubles when they happened before? Maybe the Chief wanted to make sure someone would guide her back to Haven when the Troubles started again.

Maybe Lucy's Trouble is taking on other people's personas and forgetting her own.

Nathan was adorable as he enjoyed feeling things again. And...what a look on his face when Audrey laid her hand on his, after he'd lost the ability again. Of course, he could feel that.

Good episode. I liked how the bonds between Audrey and Nathan are tightening. Like the other poster said, I hope the mythology doesn't get muddled. There are a lot of other things to keep an eye on.

He asked him if he saw Lucy, and he denied it (but it was clearly her). He lied. So there's something big there.
