Which film adaptation of Jack Finney's The Body Snatchers was your favorite?

I'm probably most partial to the 1978 remake with Donald Sutherland.

The 1956 film with Kevin McCarthy, which is one of my favorite science fiction films. The '78 and '94 films have their moments but don't impress me all that much. The 2007 version I've never even seen, and apparently I'm not missing much.

Another vote for the '56 version. The black-and-white, the voice overs all feed the paranoia that's at the base of the film.

    1978 > 1956 > 2007.
    1993=? (never saw it)

I find the 1978 version to be actually deeply disturbing.

I have to go with the classic 1956 version. Kevin McCarthy's performance just pushes it over the top for me.

Donald Sutherland version, 1978. When I was a kid, that freaked me the hell out.

    '78 for me.

I can't wait for the next film version, likely to be titled "Of The". ;)

^ Crispin Hellion Glover? Just kidding. The '78 version is my favorite.

The fifties version holds up really well but I saw the seventies version first when I was at the right age to be absolutely terrified by it so it gets my vote.

I'd have to say the '78 version, but really I'm only basing my decision on the first two. I'm pretty sure I have seen the '93 version (is it set on an army base?) but haven't seen The Invaion

Yep, the 93 version is the one on the army base, which I'm pretty sure I saw, but barely remember at this point.

And, like almost everybody else, I haven't seen The Invasion.

This thread is making me want to rewatch both the '56 and '78 versions.

The '78 version for me -- but the '56 version is also good.

I haven't seen the other two films. Judging by the reviews, I'm not missing much.

Thanks. It's hard to say but I don't remember it being terrible just not memorable

I've seen The Invasion - it's bland and forgettable, but harmless.

Incidentally, technically there's a fifth version - Invasion of the Pod People - but that's an Asylum mockbuster trying to rip off The Invasion, so doesn't count. And I haven't seen it anyway.
