Hooray! I know nothing about this other than "HBO series based on fantasy novels with good reputation" and that's all I need to know, really. I'll be watching from day one. This and that zombie show on AMC are my two most anticipated series.
Well, you have at least a year to read the books. They worth it. There are currently 4 of them and the 5th is being written now. 2 more are planned.
Hopefully this will spur Martin to at least finish Dance with Dragons...last I read, it is up over 1200 manuscript pages, longer than any other of the books...
Well if they're doing 1 season a year starting 2011 he has 7 years to bang out the last 2 books. That's not happening
Oh man when I read stuff like this it makes me want to drop what I'm reading and read the A Song of ice and Fire books again!
I thought it's been "greenlighted" a long time ago, I mean they've done the casting already and all that. Anyway, good news I guess. This will be epic tv.
The casting was only for the pilot, IIRC. They still had to film the pilot so that they could impress HBO enough to pick up GOT for a whole season. Which, apparently, they did, so yay!
For those of you who have not read the books, I advise you to hold off on doing that until Martin has finished the series. The wait for him to finish the series is horrible. Also, if you go into the TV series unspoiled I think it might be better. Certain twists and character fates will blow people's minds. God willing in 3-4 years I'll be reading countless fan posts crying about how horrible season 3's "Red Wedding" episode is.
That's slightly spoilerish for someone who doesn't know the books, Caliburn24, maybe you should edit that, but I agree with your post completely.
