Vektor, you need to understand something. You are not permitted to die until your Enterprise F design is done in glorious 3-D.
Love this hexagonal surface - a couple of cracks apparent around the nozzles, but other than that, a wonderful break from the other smooth surfaces and just one more thing that makes it look real. Nice job! (as always, of course )
Thanks for another fantastic update, Vektor! Does the airlock door match detail from any live-action set?
Not as such. There is a scene where an EVA pod is launched that includes a live-action element for the occupant, but everything else will be CG. I've put a lot of detail into this part of the model for that very reason.
So I decided to do an alternate version of the windows above the EVA bay doors. The idea here is a kind of control booth where EVA excursions and lander module docking maneuvers are directed and monitored. The windows are at floor level inside the booth and only come up about 3.5 feet. Control panels, monitors, etc. are located above the windows and to either side, so the crew person manning the booth is able to look down onto the EVA platform and the lander module docking bay unobstructed. The previous version was okay but I thought bowing the windows out a bit would help with the sight lines. Just a few more details to add in this area and it's done.
That looks really good – they read as as windows now. I'd thought the previous version was exposed structural members!
I really don't see how it can be better with texturing mapping. The level of detail and the solid colors work amazingly well. And see! Now you've got a guy standing there! He needs a welcome mat!
