As a TV series headed by David E. Kelly.

Warner Bros. Television and DC Entertainment are currently developing a live-action Wonder Woman TV series that would be written, produced and developed by TV guru David E. Kelly, the mastermind behind such TV projects as Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope and most recently Boston Legal.

The TV show would fill the gap caused by Smallville, which is currently in its last season on The CW. The new television series would not preclude the character from appearing in a live-action theatrical film, similar to how WB released Superman Returns and aired Smallville concurrently.

I hope it turns out better than Smallville.

Obviously WB hopes this new small screen incarnation of Wonder Woman turns out to be another Smallville and not another Aquaman or Birds of Prey.

I hope she'll fly... oops wrong series

Seriously though, could be good, but they'd have to do a lot to compete with what Lynda Carter brought to the mythos.

David E Kelly? Interesting choice, considering his background mostly in legal shows.

I would love to have been in that meeting...

"Hmmmm...Boston Legal, the Practice, Ally McBeal... *snaps fingers* I think we have our Wonder Woman producer!"

I gave up on Smallville around S5. The fact that it's WB makes me nervous that it will turn into a teen angst fest. If this even happens I'm going to remain cautiously optimistic and give it a chance.

^^ I'm thinking it's a strong indication of what kind of direction this show might be taking.

David E. Kelley? Oh, no. Not a fan of his storytelling style, particularly his sense of humor.

Not a bad call. Female action heroes have traditionally fared better on tv than on the big screen: XENA, BUFFY, ALIAS, CHARMED, the various NIKITA's, etc.

Kelley's an odd choice for an action series, but PICKET FENCES was great. And Hera knows the CW approach worked for SMALLVILLE. Wonder Woman could do worse than have a show that runs for ten seasons . . . . .

David E. Kelley would be writing Wonder Woman!?!

    Wow

    Just Wow!!

Man - I need to clear my tv-watching schedule for that one!

I think David is a very fine writer (from the admittedly few episodes that I've watched of his series) and it will be amazing to have somebody like him write for Wonder Woman.

Tho' please let it be Wonder Woman (and not Wonder Girl or something). And stay true to the Greek/Themyscira backstory!

    And again....

    WOW!!!

He has wit that would be needed.

Weird choice in writer and character.

Better TV than film development hell.

Based on that pilot, I'd say the development process worked the way it's expected to. My recollection of it was awful.

I don't know how true it was to Aquaman but it seemed like a workable start for a series.

Agreed. The movie thing just didn't seem to be happening.

I'm really curious how they plan to package this one. I think they're going to go with cosmopolitan working woman Diana Prince who happens to be Wonder Woman on the side.
