Am I the only one looking forward to this? Normally I'd be just fine lurking in on OmahaStar or Anti Drone's BB threads, but since those two crazy kids haven't posted one yet, I'll have to start the ball rolling.

If you want to read up on the house-guests you can click here:
    http://www.cbs.com/primetime/big_brother/

Or better yet, if you want to see interviews of the house-guests you can visit "QuirkyDude's" Youtube page by clicking here:
    http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=Quirkydude&p=r

This will be the first year I've signed up for the live feeds. I'm trying out the 14 day free trial, and if it rocks my socks enough, I'll shell out the $13 bucks a month for this season.

Anyway I hope all the BB fans on the TrekBBS will join me for what's sure to be another trash-tastic season. The cast looks cool. The house cooler. And of course there's the one and only Chen-bot!

Just one day till go time! :techman:

I'll be tuning in! Looking forward to the new season. Has there been enough time since the end of the winter edition for the Chen-bot to properly rejeuvenate her power cells? We wouldn't want any hiccups in those live shows. ;)

And we've not been told of any twists, as of yet that I know - so this should be good old fashioned Big Brother. There are reportedly live audiences for the evictions now, if I remember correctly.

    Looks like a decent cast...

I know you can expect a small twist or two. I've heard rumblings here and there. But yes, the creative team keeps mentioning how they're "going back to basics" this season. Which I'm all for after the uneven Couples Edition.

You're correct! It'll be interesting to see what (if anything) it adds to the broadcast. Maybe the booted house-guest will take questions from the audience?

In the British version we have live audiences for the evictions - but the audience have a lot more at stake given we vote out the housemates, unlike the Americans. It would be neat if they reintroduced the idea that the public could vote people out - if, indeed, it's 'back to basics' like they keep bleating on because then the live audience would have more at stake and make the interviews and evictions more interesting.

Oh no, I always get caught up in this stupid show through Big Brother After Dark on Showtime.

Re: the British version, if the houseguests are voted off by the audience that would seem to kill much of the intrigue. In the US we have lots of alliances, deals and double crosses due to the houseguests evicting each other. If you removed that wouldn't it just be a bunch of people simply living in a house?

I have to agree. It's the "alliances, deals and double crosses" that make the show so much damn fun to watch!

That said, I wish the British version were available to watch here in the states. Lord knows we have enough cable channels out there! We have networks dedicated exclusively to reality television and yet the only BB we get to watch is our own. Oh well.

Oh, no, you still get alliances and whatnot - the basic set up of the British version is that each housemate nominates two people and the two or more with the most votes get put up for public eviction. People have strategies, but they're strategies to deal with the public as opposed to the housemates - as you could piss the housemates off (and, therefore be guaranteed to be nominated) yet be beloved by the public.

I think, potentially, it adds MORE intrigue because they're not allowed to talk about the nominations, the alliances are subtle and constantly changing so the people up for eviction can't always be predicted. It also means that people can't be thrown up for nomination or evicted purely because they're in a bigger group of people - the American version has the problem that interesting abd entertaining people can be in a minority alliance and get voted out whereas the public will, as a rule, keep the entertaining people.

Our version of Survivor failed because the British, as a rule, don't seem to like people stabbing each other in the back, they like to be able to become involved in the action which is why Big Brother is still running and Survivor got cancelled after two years in 2002.

Good luck. :( ... Anti swore off Big Brother after the 8th season. For me, it was the idiotic ninth season that killed what little fandom I had left for the show.

I may catch the occasional odd episode if nothing else is on, but I very seriously doubt they can manage to hook me back in.

Okay, based on the House Guests bios and interviews, I'm going to try to predict which contestants will leave first and which will have staying power.

First male House Guest to leave: Memphis
    [IMG]
I don't know why, but four of the male contestants this season come across as extra arrogant. While Dan may take the cake in this regard, I think at least he'll be able to hide his egotistical nature for the first week or so. Memphis, I believe, will not be able to do so. So he's my guess for the first male to meet the Chen-bot in person.

First female House Guest to leave: Renny
    [IMG]
Besides being the oldest female contestant in the house this season, she also seems to have one of the largest personalities as well. Non-threating she may be, but her loud nature will likely get her booted out the door quick.

    Last male to remain: Brian
    [IMG]
He seems smart. People smart. He's seems capable of manipulating the situation as needed. But who knows really.

    Last female to remain: Libra
    [IMG]
I predict she'll keep a low profile while positioning herself within a larger alliance. She too appears to have strong people skills. We'll see what happens.

After the first episode I'll likely be changing my guesses, but that's what I have so far. Anyone else care to guess the first/last to go?

Well, I'll certainly miss your postings! Anti Drone was wonderful about keeping the BB threads updated with his fantastic commentary. And yeah, when he hung up his hat last winter I was glad to see you take on the job. But hopefully you guys will pop by every now and then. If not, who knows, maybe you'll get bitten by the BB bug next summer. ;)

I'm looking forward to watching it tonight. I really wish I could afford Showtime. I watched After Dark when my boyfriend had Showtime the first season they aired it, but since then I've not had access to the channel and it makes me sad. :( Maybe I will get the live feeds but I am not sure I can afford that either.

May I recommend www.jokersupdates.com? This is a great resource for keeping up with everything and the media section is really useful for the juicy stuff you might otherwise miss. The BB Discussion forum is always lively.

I want them to do an all gay Big Brother.

    I can see it now:

Big Brother 11: All Gay All The Time!

This week, Brian, James, and Buck redecorate the house.

Who's HOH this week? Mark! His room will be decorated like a big ol'd dungeon.

Food challenge: Bathhouse Bob visits to MC this week...Will the competition suck or swallow?

Immunity Challenge This Week: The Houseguests lip sych in full drag. Winner: It's a tie! Mike and Steve did a joint performance: Liza and Judy, Live At the Met! There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

Most disturbing houseguest: Jonathan...unknown to the others, he's a porn star from Weho and a serious tweeker. Watch the cameras during the day while he tweeks for days on end and takes stuff apart, never to put it back together!
Sponsored by Tangeray and Eros Lube!

I'm back for another season, as crazy and stupid as they might get.

I don't like Jesse, Memphis, or Dan right now, but God that Renny takes the cake. She wrote her own ticket out. I can never understand why people think they should flaunt personality. My strategy would be to lay low, not cause a stir because usually the first evictee is the one who annoys everyone.

I want to say Jerry will be gone early, but who will want to be the one who puts him up or doesn't use the veto to take him off or vote him off. Doesn't seem like a great PR move. Though I do see any of the guys doing it when the time is right.

This is where I wish the audience could vote...or better yet have the power of veto.

Time for Renny to met the Chenbot. Send a Dalek in there to exterminate her.

Renny needs to get out of there.

God I hate people like that.
