Guess the 50 most common words in all of Trek

I was going to say, in post-TOS Trek the most common phrase would have to be "warp core breach." When the crew is not time traveling, or getting stuck in the holodeck, they seem to be dealing with warp core breaches. (And they can always predict them down to the tenth of a second. It never occurs to the writers that they're short circuiting any sense of suspense with such dialog.)

 

Yep, Scan is the one I hinted at with the tricorder, at #40. And I myself thought honor would have been super high, but it was only at #79. Fight came in at #63. So lots of good guesses here, but we still have two left on the list.

Ha, I like the last one. Signal was #74, and Sign and Risk were near it in word count, but I think I deemed ithem to be too common. I should've made a definite cutoff of the 500 or 1000 most common English words, although that would still cut words out that seem very relevant to Trek, so the results for some would be arbitrary.

Breach only had 260 uses, so it wasn't very far up.

I edited the list above since there was only one correct guess. Here's today's hints:

One of the words is a noun that can be found on the bridge, but also is a verb.

The other word is tricky. It seems like it should be too common a word, but it was barely in the top 1000 most common English words, and its other variations were even further down. I kept it because I thought it was strange how common it was considering that. It is a noun that can also be a verb, but its variant is an adjective. Perhaps think of emotion...

Fear

 

Yes! Fear is the tough one. I thought it strange that there were so many occurrences of fear/afraid, and that it was noteworthy.

The other guesses were close on the last word (and nice uses of verb/noun). Technically this thing that can be found on the bridge could be found in several other places and is not exclusive to that place.

Ops is not a bad guess. I didn't factor those two together, but when I did include them (and words like operative), it was close to #70. So still not the top 50, but a good guess anyways.

Orbit was guessed already. Relay is not a bad guess, but not very common.

Read is too common of a word. And chair was not very high.


Here's another clue:

Ops was a somewhat close guess. Perhaps the station next to it may have the answer.

"These"? ...not trying to be a smart-ass, but as many times as episodes have shown all over the years for almost 50 years, the word "these", as in "...these are the voyages of the Star Ship Enterprise..." surely has had to have been said many many times...or maybe that is not what the OP meant...???

Yeah, common English words were removed, and 'these' was definitely one of them. Also, beginning credits are not factored in.

The latter is really close.

Ops, conn, tactical, and communications all have this word.
