Thanks for the votes, gang. This week's contest is about the movies that require a box of Kleenex, the three-hanky pictures, the sob-fests that get to us time and time again.

I'll allow all genres, but it has to be film as a whole, not just one scene within the film, that does you in emotionally. For example, I don't think JAWS is generally considered a tear-jearker, even if you teared up at Robert Shaw's tale of the USS Indianapolis. So, Green Mile? Yes. Wrath of Khan? No.
Standard BBS av rules apply. Any av that doesn't meet size requirements won't be entered into the poll. Please only post avs you intend to enter.
The poll will go up Friday.

My choice is a movie that had my entire college film class sobbing, even the macho football players. The professor brought boxes of tissues to pass around and we definitely needed them.

    Testament, with Jane Alexander, 1983

^I said "all genres," didn't I? Yeah, sci-fi, as long as it's mostly a tear-jerker movie and not an action flick or comedy/fantasy with one tiny sad scene. UP, for instance, has both comedy and drama, as it continues to reference the old man dealing with his wife's death. But Wall-E? Probably not. It really only has one sad part which is quickly solved. Silent Running, The Time Traveller's Wife, etc---those would work, and they're sci fi.

I have a feeling this thread is going fill up very quickly with old Disney movies, ranging from Bambi to Old Yeller to Toy Story 3.

Damn it! That's what I would have picked. :p

Okay, it's not as soul crushing as Testament, but Steel Magnolias is my go-to movie when I need a good cry.

Well, the first person to do Life Is Beautiful gets my vote. Other contenders: Schindler's List, Rabbit Proof Fence, Dead Man Walking, On the Beach, The English Patient, The Pianist, The Mission, Grave of The Fireflies, etc.

The Road. Based on the novel by the brilliant Cormac McCarthy.
Starring Viggo Mortensen and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

Damned if it wasn't the toughest movie for me to get through. Particularly being a father.

Let's see how many people know this one...

Les Jeux Interdits (Forbidden Games), 1952.

I watched it three times, the first time as a child, the last time as an adult, and I bowled my eyes out each time.

Which one do you like better?

Still time for entries, gang. Old Yeller? My Girl? Finding Neverland? Where the Red Fern Grows? Brian's Song? Lots left to choose from.
