The Federation folks were repulsed by the Sona's skin tightening which they took to be the height of vanity.

Remember that barfly in TNG Tapestry?

"No, no, you're not old at all, You're a handsome woman."

Picard was lucky that all he got was a drink in the face.

In TNG Too Short a Season, didn't the admirals wife says "Be a kid again? Fuck that."

Picard could have stayed young in Rascals, but opted not to because Worf was a dick. make up your mind Worf! You pick a 70 year old human as your best man to kill all your enemies while you're busy, becuase he's cool on the inside, but you can't make the same allowances for a boy with picards soul in him? it's no wonder CAPTAIN Data had to threaten demotion before you'd stopped acting like jerk to your superiors.

Dear GG: Since -- given your name -- presumably you are a Guy, if 3 is correct, 1 and 2 cannot be true, right?

As long as the lies are interesting civilization prevails.

To my left, my dinky ginger avatar, is a comic book character called Guy Gardner.

But lies are %78 perspiration, %16 Anxiety and %9 desperation.

That's not something you want to peer into too closely without special gloves and a nose clip.

I wouldn't trust my virtue around you my dearest friend for a New York minute if you assumed I had been misleading you about my gender all these years.

#1 is untrue. I'm a woman, and I've NEVER hidden my age. I was raised by my grandparents, and they never complained about age in any other way except how it made them feel physically. To me, age is the number of trips I've made around the Sun. Physically, some days I feel twice as old as I am, but my mind and spirit are still young - much younger and more imaginative than the average kid, judging from what I've seen of the younger generation that has forgotten how to do its own imagining.

That's pathetic. That's almost like she's ashamed of her own kids. My mother's family was like that - women never wanting to reveal their ages, as though they were ashamed of it. Well, my mother is going to be 69 years old tomorrow, SO TAKE THAT, MOM!!! [IMG]

Guy Gardener is Trek BBS' resident smartypants, who is sometimes rather nice and sometimes you feel like throwing him out the airlock. Take him with a freight train full of salt. ;)

Re: Was there ever a planet, where u said... "Surely that's good enoug

Number 1 can't be true if number three is true, but since 1 and 3 were written by a man they have to be true if 3 is true.

it's a good thing i haven't mentioned the zeroth law.

But really, you all missed the lynching point.

I said that these laws were lethal.

    How can laws be lethal?

    When you break them.

How do you break a lie?

Force the truth out of some one who isn't interested in honesty.

If you allow a lie to pass, it is the truth, because a lie is only a lie if it's called upon.

I listed the three worst lies to catch some one on.

That will generate the most vengeance from a liar caught lying.

    It's like I'm speaking french.

C'est comme si je parle français.

Actually I lie about how small it is, so "someone" down the line is pleasantly surprised.

    That has horrible sitcom potential.

Like the time Paris told B'Elanna he was going to the holodeck to play Captain Proton even though she was sick to death of it because what he was really going to do was use all his replicator rations on an engagement ring thinking that her being disappointed in him would make the surprise of her big rock all the sweeter since she had been led to believe he would be playing with robots all evening.

And of course it backfired so bad he had to go to sickbay.

At least they didn't have to decompile her ring to pay for the Doctor.

1 is generally true as long as it applies in the majority of cases (and in particular to men as well, just ask statisticians), 2 is purely subjective and a matter of opinion, 3 can be true even if 1 or 2 are true or not. A lie is only a lie when a contradiction or counterexample is provided, without validations a statement or assumption can both be a lie or the truth until proven otherwise.
