http://www.thewrap.com/tv/article/walking-dead-gets-season-3-pick-32141 This is great news. Hopefully this show lasts a long time.
Wow. And it's barely into its second season, only two episodes have aired! Isn't that a little unusual, to renew something at a point like this?
I've seen renewals like this on cable, when the ratings are outstanding. Maybe cable ratings aren't as volatile as on broadcast. Once a cable shows in an audience, they don't tend to bail, especially if its serialized and a niche taste that you can't get elsewhere on TV. There may be a hundred cop shows, but zombies are a bit rarer.
Its not unusual for The Walking Dead...didn't AMC announce it had been renewed for a second season after the series premiere aired last year? I'm surprised they waited 'til after the second episode aired...
One of the nice things about announcing renewals quickly like this is that viewers who enjoy a show don't have to worry about being left with a show that ends on a cliffhanger.
But as Farscape fans can attest, even a renewal isn't a guarantee. If the ratings for the rest of the season tank, you can bet this decision will be looked at again. Not that I expect the ratings to tank, but it's just an example.
Wow this is great news! I am glad to see the show is gaining popularity and is gonna be here next season too!
Boardwalk Empire and Game Of Thrones were renewed for second season two days after the first episode was aired.
Could argue that slashing the budget and replacing the showrunner after only 6 episodes, and doing so to a hit show, would point to the AMC exec's not being all that different from their peers. Something was working well, so their first instinct was to immediately screw with it and see if it could get by on less so the profit numbers go up a bit...
gonna be tough to keep a zombie show going if they keep reducing the budget to the point where they can't afford zombie makeup for the extras...
Some of the zombie herd made a swing by the broadcast networks, but sadly they all starved to death...
Rather than creating a thread titled specifically for Season 3 updates, as I did for season 2, I figured this thread would serve that purpose perfectly. To that end... We have our first look at David Morrissey as the Governor of Woodbury!
