[LEFT]Thoughts on the idea presented in Bloodletter of a small "substation" on the other end of the wormhole.

personally, I like the idea, any thoughts on it.

Sadly I dont see it mentioned in any other novel, but it seems like a good idea.

I've always wondered why we haven't seen a series with a ship or fleet sent to explore the Gamma Quadrant long term. If they can plausibly explain a reason to send Voyage back to the Delta quadrant, why not Gamma? That convenient wormhole seems way underused in the Trek novels!

Four novels in the DS9 relaunch -- Twilight, This Grey Spirit, Cathedral, and Lesser Evil -- were about a six month mission of the Defiant in the Gamma Quadrant.

Related to the original post, I seem to remember an episode that dealt with trying to construct a communications station near the wormhole in the GQ. I think maybe the Dominion destroyed it at the beginning of the war.

That was "Destiny," in the third season.

It's also been rebuilt since, as I recall.
