I really hope I didn't miss a thread already underway about this (it's easy to lose track in this forum), but I got aware of some interesting tidbits about Michael Giacchino's score for Star Trek. The German Trek site Treknews.de has posted the complete tracklist of the score. They say it was posted on filmtracks.com, but disappeared a few minutes later. They are not sure if it is legit. And neither am I. And since neither TrekMovie.com nor TrekToday have picked up on it, I don't think they consider it legit either. I guess it looks real, but if you think about it, there's nothing you couldn't have come up with yourself.

    However, here it is ...

    01. Opening Credits/Star Trek Theme (03:53)
    02. Prelude/Requiem for The Kelvin (06:13)
    03. “New Directions” (01:41)
    04. Growing Up Kirk (04:18)
    05. “Half-Human!” (02:50)
    06. “You Dare Me”/Destiny (03:37)
    07. Academia (03:24)
    08. Kobayashi Maru/Fear, Logic & Death (05:16)
    09. Graduation & Assignments (05:01)
    10. NCC-1701 (02:27)
    11. Distress Call (01:15)
    12. The Narada/Nero’s Refrain (03:09)
    13. Incident at Vulcan (06:33)
    14. Drill-Diving & Swashbuckling (07:23)
    15. “Live Long & Prosper” (03:50)
    16. “Beam Me Up… What’s Your Name Again?” (00:57)
    17. Bridge Battle/A New Captain (03:35)
    18. “Set A Course for Earth” (01:04)
    19. Losing Control (02:07)
    20. Another Life/“Call Me Jim” (04:41)
    21. Reckoning or Redemption/Lament for Nero (05:19)
    22. A New Day, A Second Chance (02:40)
    23. “Fascinating”/A Five Year Mission (6:25)
    24. “Space, the Final Frontier”…/Closing Suite (10:16)

    (Total running time: 100:54 minutes)

Can one disk hold over 100 minutes of music? I thought a standard disk could only hold about 78 minutes.

Another reason why the guys on Treknews.de don't think it is real.

There's always the (slim) possibility that it's more than one disc...

Well the I could see how someone could make up the titles based on the info revealed so far, still very interesting though. If it does end up being real, chaulk one up for treknews.de.

Genuine, I'd say. Looks right. Sounds right. The titles seem more than educated guesswork. "Facinating"/"5 year mission" sounds like an exciting ending that's every fan's dream come true... mirroring the closing scene from The Voyage Home.

Plus most soundtracks fill the movie these days. Nemesis was pruned down to just 45 minutes on the CD I've got and left out many glaringly obvious pieces.

I agree. It's definitely clever, real or not.

Well, it would certainly be interesting if people were familiar enough with the form to come up with a plausible tracklist but not bright enough to catch the running time "error" if that's what it is.

If this is phony, Trekmovie.com will suss it out.

They left out two track titles -- "Kirk's Death" and "Qui-Gon's Funeral." Other than that, it's legit.

Actually, they left out "The Return Of The Shat (3:10)" but only because J.J. is trying to keep that a surprise.

The Shat's ballooning face will be on the disc when we open it.

Gets a bit vague by the end though which could point to a fake, given that no one really knows what happens after the attack on Vulcan. Yes Nero probably heads to Earth but I would have expected more clues from the last few pieces in a legit soundtrack

What, no track entitled: "Red shirt massacre"? Oh well.

I hope they release the soundtrack before the movie comes out.

One track is probably missing, though...
The jukebox in Kirk's Iowa watering hole (the one where he gets a bloody nose and a subsequent dressing-down) plays William Shatner's rendition of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds from his The Transformed Man album. This also explains why everybody is so irritable and ready to fight.

This is phony. There is no change XI soundtrack is going to be longer then Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack in TMP(74 MIN).
Giacchino soundtrack in MI:3 is 65 min and remember XI running time is supposed to be same as MI:3(acording to Trekmovie). So i think Giacchino soundtrack for XI, to be very smiler length as in MI:3 approx 60 min.

The listed time is just too long. If the movie is successful and the score is popular, then a longer version is sometimes released later on.

Hard to believe that someone would come up with those clever tracks titles yet totaly fuck up the simplest thing like the run time total. If, somehow this was a true and a complete list of tracks, if a more cut version (below 80 minutes) comes out for sale we can see what tracks were cut.

Heh, I see a Photoshop opportunity using the recently-released viewscreen image.
