Which is absolutely wonderful for Star Trek. Most inspired casting they could have come up with no matter who he is playing!

That's the Kobayashi Maru lesson he already learned in TWOK. And it was also a point in Abramstrek.

Not sure if this has been mentioned but Michael Giacchino is currently working on the score

Cumberbatch in the brig, hands through the glass could be Spock attempting the hands free mind link from TOS, they just slowed it down for the trailer to make it look more dramatic.

Also, the fire fight breaking out on a Starship and the fact the brig may not be the Enterprise. Maybe it's the second ship, they capture him, his henchmen attack the ship, create the hull breach scene we see, fire-fight all the way to the brig, ship is badly damaged, Cumberbatch escapes and the ship crashes down on Earth?

Klingon fighting Cumberbatch is using a Bat'Leth. And the big thing that Cumberbatch is carrying doesnt look like a gun, it seems to be a device. He has a gun in his left hand.

Guess it could be, both are very blurred.

It would be hard for Spock Prime to hide who he was. At the end of ST09, he revealed he had been actively searching for a new planet for the Vulcans, so he couldn't have been keeping a low profile.

So anyway, that leads to a thought --
Maybe the flyover and memorial service are for Spock Prime. Done at the start of the movie, Kirk's eulogy could provide a story-telling place for some exposition told through what happened to Spock Prime that fills in some gaps since the last movie and maybe sets this one up.

Could be someone in Starfleet (Cumberbatch) is pretty pissed about the turn his life took in this new universe compared to where he thinks he could've been if Vulcan were not destroyed.

"Starfleet couldn't protect Vulcan. Six billion of its people are dead. Millions more in the Federation have had their lives changed, forever. We are weaker, now. We are worse off, now. We will never recover. We are blind to the obvious. I seek vengeance on this institution that even today is still so full of hubris and blithely believes it keeps the peace and ensures happiness. I will expose these as myths."

He doesn't have to be a Vulcan to believe that.

Remember on TNG, Worf started out wearing red (command) but later switched to gold (security). So it's not unprecedented in Trek.

Wasn't Chekov head of security on the Enterprise in the movies (a red shirt job with these uniforms). Or at least he was in the "Mirror Mirror" universe? Maybe he's got that job now in the JJVerse.

Also, one of the explanations for why he was sometimes navigator and sometimes at Spock's station and sometimes on landing parties in TOS was that being in the command track, he had to be exposed to all divisions within Starfleet. Could be that, here.

Redshirts may wear red shirts, but not all who wear red shirts are Redshirts.

    :D

Hmm. Either one of those is a double or the new reports from the full trailer are wrong.

Any or all speculation could be wrong, at this stage. This was just something passed along on Twitter yesterday by TrekMovie and I figured I'd throw it in for fun.

I don't think you can tell it's not his hand from those shots.

You can easily tell these are different hands. The length of the middle finger compared to the fingers next to it in each case is very different.
Now if either hand actually belongs to Cumberbatch is another story.
